    Default Player Information Being Sold

As some of you may have noticed I posted an article on FaceBook that I wrote about personal player details being sold.

Affiliates have since said to me that this is not as rare as we may think, and actually happens quite regularly. I always assumed this would proably be going on - but only at a higher level. I.e Big time players in the indusrtry paying big bucks.

Here is the article that I wrote: Gamblers' Personal Details Sold - Companies Revealed | Gambling News Betting

Here is part of the conversation everyone here might be interested in:

    Nick Haslem says:
    are you on PAL/
    Ryan says:
Im not mate but I have a scout over it every now and then but I know one of the guys who as something to do with it.
    Nick Haslem says:
    who?
    Ryan says:
    Keith Williamson
    Nick Haslem says:
    whats his username?
    Ryan says:
Not sure, maybe something like ironman
    Nick Haslem says:
    from eToro?
    Ryan says:
    Yep

I'm actually quite taken aback as to how easy this information was to come by. Astonishing.

If you decide to do a write up on your affiliate blog or an article on your site I'd appreciate some link love

The questions I have as follows:

    1. On what sort of a scale is this happening? Is it THAT widespread?
    2. What operators are involved?
    3. Have you had similar experiences? Please share.
    4. What information do people sell other than what I just reported?

He contacted me a few months back trying to sell me some lists.

His Skype is "realplayers4u" and his Skype profile says he's from Surrey UK

In Sports betting it is extremely common. Pinnacle Sports was the only book in town for discount very sharp odds at one point, and was well known for selling data of every customer account to their competitors. With there business model it was actually smart, because when there was an arb available against another site, pinnacle actually wanted the action.

A bigger purchaser of lists in the past (not sure about now) was CRIS group (bookmaker.com / betcris etc)

I can't speak for certain on casinos because I don't know. But in poker it makes far less sense to go selling databases then it does for sportsbooks to do.

This is also common in other industries.

I made fortunes compiling lists. While my method involved many many thousands of dollars spend on ads, I made a LOT strictly on facilitating multiple data swaps. I abandoned this business in late 2004. It was good way to make money (1999-2002 were the peaks) at time, now a days it would be a very tough living.
If you're going to bet US Sports online - I strongly suggest 5Dimes.com or Bookmaker.eu.

Bookmaker has called here and sent us information through the mail and has been doing so for nearly 3 mths now. I have never signed up as a player to their site or any of the related book makers....other then bodog which was when they opened to Canadians.

In addition to buying lists: BetCris has bailed out (not exaggerating) probably over 100 failed sportsbooks, casinos and poker rooms over the years: where players would have been stiffed had they not come through. In addition to buying lists they also get lists from here. A lot though is as the first major offshore bookmaker to North America and still to this day by far the largest they've done a lot to protect players trust in the industry. Yes, they can be annoying as all hell with phone calls (now marketing Bookmaker) but as a webmaster promoting gambling in any form, I can't help but wonder how things might be today if it wasn't for this company, and for that sure appreciate them.

This is actually way more common than what you would think unfortunately. I get two to three offers a month.

It usually happens when an employee for a company leaves his/her position and decides to dload the DB before their exit.

The lists they have are sold so many times its surprising anyone buys them anymore.

Used to do this as well back in the day. As prop said, it was good money. Now I'm a little more ethical in how I conduct my business. It's no longer about the quick buck, but rather the long term one.
