Subject: 5k free roll in Portland

Hi Cathy, (aka LadyHldm... that was your nickname)

First of all, are you still out there in Portland? Even if you're not,
the free roll is actually going to be online, so you can play from anywhere.

Now I know it's been well over 3 years since we last saw you at our tables,
but the reason I am reaching out to you with this email is because of a really
exciting development in the US market.

Take a look at this short video - it explains it better than I can.
Like me, I think you will be blown away by the opportunity when you learn about it.

There's no question that this will be the next big thing in poker.

If you have any questions, just let me know.

    Best regards,

    Rob G.Team SunPoker

PS. Oh, I almost forgot, about the free roll - it's a $5,000 Texas
Holdem Free Roll for U.S. players on November 1. For more
info, check out the link (Link disabled ; ) NextBigThingInPoker.com
I am from Portland, that is my DOYLES ROOM username, (not sun poker.. but close ). And that's one snazzy lil page the 'video' is on. . Haven't watched yet, or filled out the form even. Stuff that comes in email gives me the creeps

but I do think it'll be a successful email campaign.

    PS thanks for selling my email addy :{

    Interesting stuff.

Apparently he is split testing by using different domains (which seems kind of weird): shuffleupanddeal.com

I'm a bit surprised that he seems to be using his real name while insinuating that he is associated with Sun Poker...

I like the idea actually (from a marketing standpoint). More clever than just the standard 'blast' email that most programs send out. Object one is getting people to open this and actually read it. I think they're doing a better job than most in that area.

As for content it's also pretty good. Obv since you're not a Sun Poker player the data was jacked from somewhere (or sold). Still though it's not bad and the video was something cool. I love the idea of not allowing the video to play until you put your name and email address in!

So if we can learn something from Spam then we're on the right track. Taking success from even the most annoying type of online marketing lol.

They lost me there, I had no reason to believe the video was worth giving them my info, so I didn't.

I never even got the email for the "subscription." I thought the video never existed at all and it was just a clever way to get an email address.

They also lost me at the email insertion, but we're marketers, i am guessing plenty of average joe's are inserting their emails.
