I just wanted to put out a general rant about payments in the industry these days and make some points which I think all affiliates will concur with.
Many of these points have been made recently by members of this forum and I am noticing a significant increase in tension and stress over payments from many rooms.
So, here we go...please discuss:
1) Affiliate payments should be made SEPARATE from the poker room or casino and NEVER to a player account (unless a specific request is made by the affiliate for this method).
2) Affiliate payments should be made ON TIME and at the SAME TIME each month. I am thinking by the 10th of the month, the money should be in the affiliate's grasp, if not on the way if cheque is requested as the method of payment.
3) An emailed STATEMENT should be sent out breaking down the monthly payment. The statement should include all information about the payment including how all commissions were calculated as well as signups, etc... The statement should also include last month's revenue and the total revenue for the calendar year. The more info the better and this should be PRINTABLE or have a possible request for a mailed hard copy. Also, possibly a link to a detailed breakdown if it isn't on the report.
4) There should be at least 3 different payment methods available. I suggest CHEQUE, WIRE, and some other form (Moneybookers, Instadebit, etc...) as well as the option to "request" a player account deposit to yourself or one or more of your players. There should also be an option to fund a tournament for your players with some of the revenue with an option to email players about the tourney if one is set up.
5) There should be some options as to the currency of the funds. I suggest US Dollars or Euros as options. (Jeremy would probably support Euros as I think he figures the US Dollar is going extinct)
6) There really needs to be something done to SEPARATE affiliates from gamblers. We should NEVER run into a circumstance where a bank or other entity denies us or questions us about our funds because it is "tied" to gambling. We are not all necessarily gamblers and gambling laws shouldn't apply to our advertising/marketing jobs.
Of course it would be nice if we had our own interac debit cards, but after the Affiliate Speedpay fiasco, I guess this idea will never fly.![]()
