    Default Poker Book Review Question

So, I'm sat writing a piece of poker content for one of my new sites and I want to talk about what Sklansky says in one of his books about a certain strategy.

I was wondering if a) this is allowed (obviously I wouldn't copy word for word what he has written but I would want to explain to the reader his viewpoint) and b) how to do this giving the correct amount of credit to Sklansky himself.

The article is basically talking about starting hand requirements and I want to tell readers what Sklansky says and what another author says.

    Thoughts please?

    Thanks

    Dave

You're probably fine. Providing analysis and insight into what someone else is written is almost definitely "fair use". Minimize the amount of direct quoting that you do though. I'm pretty sure Sklansky and Malmuth are pretty protective of their intellectual property.

I have re worded what they have written in the book and summarised it in my own words. It's more of a this is what Sklansky says, it's good advice, consider it when making your decision. Then I add some of my own advice and expand a bit.

When it goes live I think I will post the link in this thread and make sure everyone thinks it's OK.

I really like using a phrase "these ideas were originally put forth by...". It credits the original author, while putting you on track to talk about ideas instead of the actual text written by someone.

I'm pretty sure that I got the ideas for the above from Brian Clark of Copyblogger.com (or maybe it was Sonia Simone), but I can't seem to find the article.

It shouldn't be a problem, and authors actually love it. Reword it, cite the source, and you will be ok.
