The main issue with affiliate promotions is that they are put in place as a motivating factor for affiliates to increase exposure of the brands. In the past the promotions/competitions I have won have nearly always had the same affiliates win. I have tried changing the promotion to make it more accessible such as affiliate with the largest increase in revnue etc and this also is skewed by the same affiliates winning.

I find the best promotion is giving your time to the affiliates and inviting smaller affiliates as well large ones to days out/weekends away.

The only promo that can be the same for every affiliate is to send a prize if you increase in a 25 percent the monthly average sign-ups of the last 4 months.

For players I never get a cent from free poker promotions except the great VictorChandler that paid, and still paying, for no depositors.

An increase of % or CPA is the best I can receive from my affiliate manager.

The only promo that has worked for me is an EXCLUSIVE free tournament tokens promo for all depositors.

@MAC: I don't think that's fair to larger affiliates. I think it's much harder for an affiliate at the higher end to send 25% more players than you might think.

Plus, there's also the issue that you're now incentivizing them to send players who might not be desirable signups. What is they send a bunch of min depositors who blow through their initial deposit and leave?

You have to determine which KPI's you're looking to influence and properly incentivize the affiliate to move in that direction.

For smaller and maybe even medium sized affiliates, getting more total signups might be the KPI you're looking for. They're probably sending low value players to begin with. But if you can get them moved up a level or two and committed to your affiliate program then you can slowly change the incentive structure for better quality players.

Finding a promotion which will please everyone will never happen and that is why different promotions aiming to achieve different targets should be ran throughout. Individual goals should be set for each affiliate to achieve.

I think this was a pretty cool thing that Cake Poker did before.

And like Simon mentioned nights out and stuff like that is something I would prefer a lot more than some contest as it is showing that the poker room/sportsbook/casino appreciates your business.

Things like these would make me push a poker room harder just because of the fact that you feel appreciated.

They have already proverbially won every month by being a super affiliate in this industry.
This is an interesting concept... The room would definitely be interested, and it offers something for the newer affiliates too.

In the end I come back to offering more tools and promotions to help affiiates convert players, which helps everyone... Affiliates get their appropriate commission levels more often than not, and a great exclusive player promo helps everyone.

    Just my thoughts...

Things like that for me are always huge, when a company goes out of the way to send you gifts or rewards or whatever, and I always appreciate that more than money. I prefer looking at rewards or thank yous compared to incentive to promote more etc. If Affiliate Program A said to me "Bring in 10% more players and we'll give you $1000", and Affiliate Program B said "Hey, you did a great job last month, we've given you $100 extra as a thank you" - even though B is only 10% of A, I will be more inclined to push B ahead of A when it comes to promotion.

Just a couple of weeks ago, I was going to get a review up of one casino but my son was really sick so I wasn't able to. I sent the company a heads up that it was going to be delayed a couple of days(as we had a contract and that was one of the terms) due to my son being sick. What happens the next week? I receive a ton of packages in the mail from that company - all gifts for my son, Ben 10 books, DVDs etc. Bar any huge issues, that casino and the other products at that program will now be pushed to the moon by me.

That's the kind of affiliate promotions I'd rather affiliate programs do. Reward the people that do hard work for you. Hell even if they aren't bringing in any money yet. If you spot a hard working affiliate who is busting their balls trying to get started in this business and you give them a gift - if they end up becoming a super affiliate I guarantee they will never forget that, and you will always reap the rewards.
