Default New Ipoker Skin looking for affiliates help

Hi everyone, just wondering if any of you would be interested in helping me with my new site on the Ipoker network. It is greenearthpoker.com. We are going to be the first "green friendly" site on the net. Starting in January bi-weekly charity tournaments where we donate a certain amount for every new depositing player, once we have our own software we will also have a VIP Store where players can use their Ipoints to buy a variety of earth friendly items, donate to various charities, or turn it into cash for themselves..

For the first 4 months or so we will be using another Ipoker skins software (TheAsiaPoker). We also have to use their affiliate program. This is the period we anticipate it being the hardest to grow, and also the period where we have to hit a certain volume in rake before they will put us on our own software.. Any players you accumulate in this period we will tag as yours and if they transfer over to our software you will maintain if you are working under a revenue sharing deal.

As you can tell by looking at my site, its not quite complete. It should be looking a lot better by the end of the week and at that point we will put the download links up and be ready to start moving forward. The affiliate section is very rough, I am still looking for a partner "green" site who we will link the green living section to, and the site in general needs a little tidying and tightening before launching, hopefully next week.

Anyone out there who wants to help with this would be greatly appreciated. We would be prepared to offer almost our entire portion of revenue share to affiliates willing to help in this period.. We are more concerned about getting our brand out and recognized than we are about turning a profit in the first few months. We would also be open to fixed monthly prices or CPAs in some cases.

If this is something you would like to help me with, please add me to skype jonnie.rowe or msn jonnierowe(at)hotmail.com and I can answer any questions you may have. Any suggestions for the site would also be appreciated. Thanks

I have been speaking Jon a bit in the past few weeks in respect to their new room and the concept and suggested that he post here to get some additional thoughts.

I think this room might turn into a non profit organization and not much of a room. Green Friendly is good and is a great sales pich these days but not to an online poker player.
A Poker Player is looking to play poker to make money for them selves and i dont think they would care if they played on a site that is " green powered" They just want to win $$$ and the most of it where ever they can.

Charity poker works well in some cases where the players actualy care for the charatible organization. If I was playing I would not play multiple games with my profit going to a charity i dont care about.

Then there is a trust issue. How will i know my money is going to good use.

What i see now is the idea is to profit off of people's good nature to help charities. I would never help promote a site like that.
This may not be the idea and there are alot of questions that would have to be answered for this site to be made legit.
This may be another problem you run into, if ppl think the same as me. Gambling is a dirty business sometimes so if you are going to say you will help charities you better back it up and prove step by step how your legit.

I dont mean to criticize I love the idea of chartable donations, but just feeback of my first opinion.

I don't really like the use of "green earth" Has nothing to do with online poker, in fact we are wasting electricity playing it. Instead go with a charity type room where x$ % of rake always goes to charity.

I didnt want to chime and be negative but I agree with some of the issues that some of the others have picked up on

also if you havent spent the money on an ipoker licence etc than you might have time to look at the idea again and adapt it maybe - going for running a poker room isnt cheap and you really want to be sure your bringing something new to the market that people will actually want to play in preference to all the others - not sure "greeness" is it

I'm not knocking your green idea - I've been a "green" for 20yrs even before it was considered reasonably normal

and Ive always wanted to have a green site or two - thought about some ideas with greenest combined with poker and came to the same conclusion as the posters above

the only gambler I can think of that is green and a poker player is Zac Goldsmith - personally I play poker and I give to green organisations but I dont really connect the two - I'm also veggie and left handed but I dont think I want to combine those with poker either

I'd give the money I give to whoever regardless of poker

however I can see a possible way to do green but safer - this infact was the idea I had a year or two back but its not exactly ground breaking ...

just run a poker affiliate site the same as everyone else but with a green angle (instead of a green poker site) - guarantee to give x% of your affilaite commission to your green charity and then hold community games etc and blog / post on what your signups raise and what the money has gone to help etc

I think that way you will get the community / charity angle to work - if its just a few players on the ipoker network it will be a bit like the pink / gay poker player idea someone had a while ago - it will just get lost in the network

and none of them will feel like they are saving the rainforest

then IF it works you can go like wasspoker did - run a forum and then setup a poker room on a network once you have the business / organisation

I'm suprised nobody has done a general charity poker site (maybe they have) where you can donate % of your rake (aff rev) to xyz charity but again its a similar idea

gl BTW but I think the important thing to not loose sight of the main reason poker players play poker

    cheers scrawnybob

ps. BTW theirs nothing to stop you just giving some of your money to your green charities privately from your profits without making it a feature of the site

Well, not the reaction I was hoping for but I realize not everyone will like the idea. To Gooderpoker, we dont intend on operating like a non profit organisation, and dont plan on advertising it as such. We understand that people will have to trust that we are actually donating to the charities that we say we are, to counter this we may post the charitable receipts that all major charitable organisations issue upon donation.

What you say about poker players not caring about the green side of things and caring mainly about profit etc. I also see your point with this. We dont expect that professional players will flock to our site to give their money away to charities. These players will continue going to the Ipoker sites which offer illegal rakeback maximizing their profit each month. We won't be one of those sites, or target those players.

We will target the players who play just for fun. Play a few hours a month as a hobby Not concerned that theyre not getting a 50 or 100 dollar rakeback bonus at the end of the month. Enough of those players will end up making up for the number of the big rakers we dont get. To be honest there isnt much money to be made from the big rakers anymore with the illegal rakeback sites operating like they do. The players all expect 65% rakeback, leaving the skins with no margin to work with anyways.

We believe what we are doing is one of the first truely unique sites on the network. I think it would be harder to start a site called Full House Poker which offers the same thing as Royal Flush Poker, Straight Flush Poker, and 100 other poker sites offer. (sorry to the site owners if those are actual real sites)

At any rate, we will still be offering similar deposit bonuses, reload bonuses, etc that all other sites are offering. We're just throwing a different angle on it, selling different things in our VIP store, and running charity tournaments a few times a month.

Anyways, thanks for your feedback. Keep it coming good or bad... Thanks

    Jon

Ever checked out a Merge poker room..those are fun players and really there isnt many of them when you can still spot the props. Yes you have the network to back you but if your looking for the fun player how do you expect them to make you a profit. Fun players deposit and leave...not to mention learn about rakeback and learn how to get it. I like the idea but I dont think it makes sense in this niche. I would def suggest a name thats a bit more catchy than Green Earth Poker. dunno..just me maybe who finds it in the same playing field as cool hand poker.

btw good luck although I think you've def got your work cut out for ya
