Default CNBC Illegal Gambling Special - Discuss

Just got done watching the show, I figured it would make a good thread to discuss and share all of our thoughts.

The positive that came out of it for poker affiliates is that you can see; if any niche of the industry is going to be accepted first by U.S. Congress, it will definitely be poker.

But like the last prime time gambling special, I was not impressed with their overall view of the online gaming industry in general. Last I checked, the law says nothing about U.S. citizens sitting in their homes playing online poker; neither the wire act or the UIGEA bill.

Overall it was an interesting show. Feel free to discuss.

In case you're one of those affiliates that don't make a dime, why not play some free poker on my website PokerForFree.org. I am always on the hunt for new members, and if you contact me and mention PAL, I'll be more than happy to increase your initial bankroll a bit

I would check Stock Market News, Business News, Financial, Earnings, World Market News and Information - CNBC.com - often they post their special online.

Overall, it was an OK show. The pluses were the statement that 99 % of all sports/casino/poker gambling is illegal, and this makes it ripe for the legalization argument, particularly in times of massive govt debt run-up (although legalization may have a negative effect on affiliates - separate discussion). The minuses were that AP and UB got ripped up pretty bad over their cheating scandals (much worse than the 60 Minutes expose a year or so ago). Also, that idiot Goodlatte (one of the authors of the UIGEA) was given some big airtime talking about how online gambling was immoral and socially irresponsible. What CNBC didn't mention, and shame on them, was that Goodlatte received over 100K from the Horse Racing lobby, to carve them an exception in the UIGEA....that 2-faced bastard ought to be hung by his short hairs for that one.

Slipshod journalism at its finest. Journalists don't actually investigate any more, they just rewrite AP stories.
Even if you fall on your face, you're still moving forward.
