Most of you probably dont know this, but 2 years ago, Pokerstars tought the legal climate in France was unsure and closed all the french affiliate account. I dont know if the affiliates got some sort of compensation (do they paid the converting players after the accounts were closed?).
I'm working on the french market a lot but I'm not french so I kept my affiliate account.
As you may now, France has decided to regulate online gambling in the near future, probably before the end of 2010. In the meantime, Pokerstars forced me to go on a revenue share plan (90% of my players are from France).
The french gambling law project has a clause that said that all the actors that want a licence for France have to start to zero again, meaning they have to close all the existing account. I dont really see the room doing that, except maybe sending a mail saying you have to register to the "new" site.
My big question regarding that is that I'm pretty sure that I'm gonna get screwed the minute the legislation take place and loose all the players that I got on MGR for "life"
I would like an official statement from Pokerstars about their intentions on that matter. This situation is only for France right now, but most european country are trying to regulate online gambling and the same question will arise again.
Also, I dont know how they did handle the situation in Italy. If someone has any feedback on this, it would be greatly appreciated.
