Default CAP London is the new LAC

Or maybe the other way around? Regardless there is a lot of buzz at GPWA regarding this new unveiling and I just had to ask what fellow affiliates thought from a poker perspective? Possible there isnt the 'drama' surrounding here, or there just arent many members going? Anyhow if someone could shed some light before I take off into the dark once more I'd appreciate it.

The story unfolds and continues here: GPWA/CAP/iGB coming out party

From the GPWA here is what I am seeing. The founder Michael Corfman has been informed the latest rumor mill is true and that in fact CAP, Warren Jolly and company DO own a part of the LAC and profit from each affiliate/operator present. Too some this is troubling news, especially those who were blind-sided by last years deceitful reportings. I for one am not that bothered or surprised. However, what did surprise me was a post a received just tonight via facebook promoting a CAP sponsored 'party' with a winner having the opportunity to meet these folks in London. (Pause)

It's absolutely amazing to me that the folks at CAP, particularly Jolly and Fabiano, would even dream of making an appearance after the last 12 months bashing! Secondly, people in this industry would see it a prize to 'spend a night with the CAP team' - honestly, I am no veteran in this business like some of you but this to me is so ridiculous that it's borderline insane. I might make the trek just to see this unfold once more! LOL

Whilst this is going to remain a highly discussed and attended event I wonder how long the CAP shadow remains to linger. I just cant foresee a future event with this stigmata of CAP attached to it. I see the new site (re-directed from CAPEuro.com) lists CAP, as stated in the GPWA post above, as the official 'Marketing Partner' for the conference.

Please tell me how the LAC, iGB, the operators or attendees benefit from CAP's involvement or how they positively 'market' the show? I must be missing a load of information as to me there is something very strange in this relationship.

Anyhow, best of luck to the those making the trip. Judging from the pictures and members going I am sure there are plenty of great parties and camaraderie!

The porfessor and Warren have fallen out and no longer speak with each other so I very much doubt the Professor will be at this conference.

It comes as no surprise to anyone that CAP have an involvement with this as this conference was built on the backbone of CAP and for them not to profit would simply not work.

If CAP did not instigate the conferences where it was free to attend for affiliates, these conferences would never have materialised.

At the end of the day this is a conference for affiliates and operators meeting each other and I feel CAP's should not be an issue.

To answer your question about CAP's shadow it is worth noting the forum at CAP has pretty much died post March and the shadow and lack of Professors involvement shows.

Warren and CAP profit from these conferences... plain and simple.

This is the same company that ripped off affiliates via Cardspike... mass banned many members including the founder of this forum... etc...

At the end of the day I think it matters greatly that Warren and his company are profiting.

I in no way support CAP but I am simply pointing out that affiliates continue to attend these conferences with or without CAP and this is the main gaming affiliate conference.

GPWA sure does a good job of generating buzz for the LAC conference. Bottom line is the conference provides value for both affiliates and operators, otherwise nobody would attend. I think stirring this stuff up again is pretty unproductive for everyone in general.

    What JohnH said.........

I encourage all PAL members to stay out of the stupid industry drama and instead worry about how much money they are going to make in 2010. I just made my vision board over the weekend and it's filled with gold bars, silver, 100 dollar bills, and a fun vacation for my family this summer.

I am not participating in the global recession, nor will I participate in any daily drama that is counterproductive to increasing my bank account. Please keep the B.S. on the other boards. PAL/CAL is above it.

hrm, after looking at the GPWA post, I guess I don't get the point? Was there really ever any question when Alex re-branded the conferences what they were doing? Since I was knee deep in all this, I guess I just don't get it.

I think its silly to say they had no idea CAP was still involved, doesn't seem like a bombshell to me. I guess the industry has been calm for too long and we need some drama? Even so, I can think of lots funner topics to tackle if we want to make some noise. This whole thing is just silly IMO
