Definately a website. Blog conversions are notoriously low. There's a post about it on Bill's Poker Blog which i can't be bothered to find, but you'll be able to if you look.

Thats what i think aswell, i havent had much traffic on my site but i can just imagine it would be better to build a web site because you can cusomise them more i just thought this would be a good subject to point out so i could get some feedback on it.

Blogs are a great way to get started since it's a super easy content management system. If you're going to take the time to develope an entire site aroud a niche then I agree, a website is better. Blogs, especially a blog network, can be effective for smaller sites and seo. There are some good posts here on the topic if you search around. Welcome!!

A static website is better in so many ways, but there's no reason you can't have both. In fact, everyone should probably have a blog these days.

I'd build them both at the same time.

    To expand:

I think static site seems to be best for building your permanent Search Engine presence, but adding a blog to it gives you the chance to foster/increase interraction with visitors...get the chance to feel the best of both worlds.

Point taken. with your blog would you build it into your site or would you embed it on a subdomain in your hosting?

Im asking this because i built my website in html and my blog & forum is in php on a subdomain.
