Default Which is better, making a new website or buying an established one?

Suppose you want to invest an amount of $10-15k in poker affiliate marketing.....would you prefer developing a new website with quality content or buy an established website?

Let's assume we are talking about a person who is already earning well and therefore no problems with time it will take the new website to start generating revenue.

If time isn't an issue I would start a new site. It all depends on your knowledge and experience in this industry IMO. If you think you can invest $10-15k into a new site and be earning around $1,000/month within 6 months than that is the way to go. I think anyone with even basic SEO and marketing skills could turn $15k into a site that generates $1k/month, within a reasonable amount of time.

Let's say you spent $9,000 on 300 articles at $30 each, which should be high quality based on the price/volume. Then you spent another $6k on SEO/marketing. That would leave you with an amazing site that should be earning steady revenue within the first 6 months.

If you went the other route you'll be buying a site that is making around $1,250/month (if you spent all $15k), based on a 12 month revenue sale. I doubt you'll be able to find anything close to a high quality 300 page website with $6k invested in SEO/marketing. You'll probably be looking at 25-50 page sites that rank for several kw's, which will mean the revenue is somewhat sketchy.

I'm making a lot of assumptions but the point I'm trying to make is it all depends on what you think you can turn $15k into. A less experienced affiliate may be better off risking it on an established site but I think everyone else would be best off investing into a new one.
