Default What the hell is this?

Every few days I get these apparent rakeback signup emails, but they look like this...

    PlayersOnly Username

    6yV8FP egguqhhlxgef, hwomvvjfmxvr, [link=http://djjlkhpunkmu.com/]djjlkhpunkmu[/link], http://yiqnqfdiskye.com/

Instead of the person (bot, machine...whatever it is) filling out their name, email, username etc, this is filled in.

I don't really care as they go straight to the junk folder anyway, but I am very curious as to what it is.

Right, I guess my question then is why? What does this accomplish?

I'm assuming it's been coded to scan and fill in forms from a specific type of site. I dunno, maybe it gathers info? Has a link to their sites?

Yes, I've been getting these lately too. Coming from different ip address and all within a minute of each other. Definitely a bot. I added some code to my registration page to redirect these signups to my home page.

In addition to these bot signups, i've been getting a lot of queries testing for SQL exploits. If you have any holes on your code, make sure you plug them up, especially if there's any chance that these bots can access your player database.
