    What can be done abt it? Will there be damage if this bs is widespread? Mayhap there's already damage..

    There is really nothing you could do against it other then make it harder to register @ your board.

    In your case its not reall sabotage but spammers using the profile as a parasite landing page. This technic is widley used by pharma spammers and if you check the serps for viagra related terms you often find profiles ranking in the top ten.

    Most of the spammers use xrumer, the integrated decaptcher is powerfull and beside using captchas it would be good for you to use questions for registrations aswell.

    You actually can expect a shitload of spammy links to the profile.

    I wrote about this type of activity a year ago on SEO Theory. The article makes some very specific suggestions for forum operators.

    I really hate link dropping in forums and blogs.
