I think they could do very well in the casino industry, but i wouldn't want to play serious poker with sonic the hedgehog lol. They could probably do something like PKR but better...but for some reason sega never really tries to do anything better than competitors...

I think it is great. Any major brand willing to associate itself with poker is a good thing - such as Playboy, Yahoo etc.

Looks good. First time you log on to the poker client, you get welcomed by live support.
Good feature for total noob players :-)

Am I the only one that thinks it looks totally lame? Maybe if your a role playing buff, but the whole phantasy star images make it come off a bit like it's something built for teens.

@Kaus/addaminsane: I think the bigger issue is that they'll be introducing the game to many players who might not have played online poker before (read: total fish). I think waaaaay too many people in this industry only think about poker from a poker player's perspective.

completely agree thefarang - its a brand and style which should have a strong generational or niche appeal plus the brand is trusted, so conversions should be higher as people won't be as concerned with integrity issues.

I love the idea of Sega dipping into the gambling market, especially because a huge portion of the market share includes 18-30 year old males.

That aside, I hate that the first I heard of it was a spam mail, that doesn't say much for their marketing ideas, or their respect for lead time :P.
