So Loto-Quebec, the government authority that govern everything lottery and casino related in Quebec, Canada, just got the go-ahead to launch their own online gambling site.
What do you guys think, is it the beginning of a trend in Canada, and perhaps elsewhere?
I wonder what their marketing strategy will be. Until 2-3 years ago, you couldn't play Texas Holdem in (legal) casinos in Quebec. They introduced the electronic poker tables about two years ago and the real thing (with dealers) about a year ago. Obviously, it was a big success. One thing that is interesting, a manager from the poker room of the Montreal Casino is a member of some of the popular Quebec French poker forums, and has used that as a medium to get feedback about the room and even to announce special events and the likes. That makes me think that they are very aware of the importance of web portals for marketing purpose, and perhaps, affiliates will be somewhat included for their online venture, although I expect it will be more media buys...
