    Default PokerListings Tournamanents

Just to add to the previous PL debate, does anyone not find it stupid, how when you type in google for "best poker tournaments", the Pokerlistings best tournaments and learn-texas-holdem best tournaments are completely different, even though both sites are owned/run by the same people?

THe fact they don't even have titan on their list of the top 7 tournaments annoys me.
I know affiliates will reply by saying we all have poker rooms we prefer to promote, but to me this just shows a lack of value or integrity for the site. I mean, I wouldn'y go ahead and claim FTP is the easiest poker site in the wolrd just because i wanted to bump them.

Dude seriously get over it. I have some keywords where 3 of my websites rank well for the same keyword. Why do you care that they have 2 websites ranking for that keyword?

Stop spending your time worry about what they rank for and focus on your business. Personally, I wish I own as many websites as them and had the cash flow they have. I would buy a lot more websites than they do now.

Seriously, If I had the cash flow and knew a serious money maker keyword. I would buy all 10 websites on the first page of google for that keyword. That's just my opinion though. I don't know about other affiliates.

and I wouldnt be listing a Merge site as the 2nd best MTT site or best overall tournament site.

Sorry but you want to nitpick another company, you should be open to get nitpicked yourself. Get over what PL is doing and focus on what you want to do.

    +1

And even though you and a lot of others may be sick of promoting Stars, they have the best MTTs in the industry IMO.

Why does everyone on this forum turn these debates into something personal? Kaus, I have Titan clearly listed as the number1 mtt site which i clearly beleive it is. I list carbon poker as one of the top 3 sites because all their MTTs have massive overlays and value. FOr instance, the 50k Guaranteed at Carbon had 340 players last time, which makes an overlay of over $10k - you can't beat that for a tournament site.

There are different reasons to claim different sites to be the best, but the fact they list completely different sites as the "best tournament sites" which both come on first page for the search "best tournament sites" is stupid.

I'm over what PL is doing, why does everyone think i'm just sulking all day and night? I made my point from a user/player stand point, not a gruntles affiliate.

If you're going to reply to every thread i make about PL saying i should spend more time working on my own sites then worrying over theirs, then i could come back with the same comment on every single one of your threads, saying "stop asking questions and replying to threads on PAL and just get on with your own".

I just find these debates interesting without making it personal.

RIght, I guess the point I want to make, is that everyone on this forum generally seems obsessed about quality, truthful content being the rule for success as an affiliate. Yet all these same affiliates pledge PL is the best in the world, that they're the tunnel to aim for and we should all follow their footsteps. yet how is listing tournament sites randomly as "the best tournament sites" in any way follow this "quality" route to success which you all claim. They're success is built upon ruthless seo in my opinion. Nothing else.

If you think they're a good site because they provide great poker news content, then I'd like to ask when i'm looking to catch up on pokernews why i needed to be bombarded with the "editors best poker site picks" and a giant "WHERE TO PLAY POKER SIGN". This represents no value to your experienced pokerplayer who's not interested in having to scroll through all these facile offers to get to the relevant info. All you affiliates who hate banner and link farms - this is how PL feels to me.

Well first Ill lol at your comments

Why don't you ask a question based on what you see without judging the site or company your asking about first. If you do that maybe, just maybe you'll get a solid answer instead of people telling you to get over it. Stop saying WTF this is stupid and start asking WHY?

    A few examples

Do you promote different rooms on different sites, even though the pages are based on the same topic?

If so, WHY would you vary your promotions?

Do you find it converts better when you switch up the rooms? WHY?

Do you see any benefits or has your income increased by having two pages with different poker room rankings or different advertisers competing against each other? WHY?

I guarantee you, questions like that will give you a better answer than what you've received so far AND you might even learn something or two.

Just to tilt you some more, they have more than two pages with different sites listed for that term. Must be a reason. But hey, I should just get on with my own.

addz123 PL makes a ton of money and this is why all of us affiliates look forward to being like them. (or better than them) From reading this thread, I see every time you speak on PL, you are looking at it from a player view. Well from an affiliate view they are doing a great job driving conversions. Who cares if the experienced poker player has to scroll down half way down the page to find the news he wants to read. That same page converts the new players which is the goal as an affiliate.

addz123, you should spend more time working on your own sites than ranting about PokerListings. Nobody is making it personal, it's kind of funny you want to debate over it again n again....nothing can be accomplished by such discussions.

It's nothing personal. I think it's just that most of us look at sites like PL through the lens of an affiliate more so than a players standpoint. Like Kaus said, it's important to understand why PL does what they do, instead of just saying "it's stupid".

You made a good argument about why you list Carbon as a top MTT site. Even as a player I didn't know about their huge overlays. But I didn't see that information on your site either. Why not have a page for "Best Tournament Overlays?" When I click on the Carbon Poker page, all I see if a review like everyone else has.

Why not use your player perspective to offer the information that PL doesn't?
