Professional Web Videos

I've seen a few members use some professional videos on their website. These look and sound really professional and I'm guessing that they are being made by some company.

I've looked around and I'm not even use what to search for, so I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.

Also, affiliateply has premade affiliate videos but they are like a "paw" like deal where if you use their videos you earn through them. Ie, it's an engaging click to action video.

What software should I use to add subtitles to some english videos?

I saw they do it on stox.

Whats up with Microsoft Silverlight. Just discovered this.
Is it just a codec for videos on websites or its more than that? Can you use it to make /modify videos? If so, its free?

The issue with silverlight is that user have to DL that before it works, obv not ideal =
