confession time: When we were first starting we had 4 domains we wanted to use so instead of unique sites on each domain, we decided to re-direct and mask each of the domains to show the exact same content.
The result - not one single lick of google traffic to any interior page of the website for over 1.5 years... when we finally changed the masking / re-direction screw up, lol.
And DealerDan hahahah omg 600 domains in one sitting jesus man i thought i was bad.

Bought and exact match domain like 4 months ago for a premium price and just let it sit. FAIL
Here's a couple more good ones. A few years back I picked up a great domain and started to build a site for pokerdictionary.com. It turned out I had bought pokerdictonary.com instead. Talk about irony...
A few months ago I was looking on snapnames and saw that lnternetpoker.com was for sale.
I was like "Wow let me make sure that I am seeing the right thing here," so I read it over about 10 times, and went "Ok, let me throw out an offer they will not accept but still show I'm semi-serious so they will at least respond and tell me what they really want for it." So I make a $5000 bid, they make you click a bunch of different confirmations that you know you will get no refun on and go back to browsing. I get back to the "I" section and don't see it. Hmm... I keep going and sure enough, there's "Lnternetpoker.com in the "L" section. Ever notice how lower case "l" looks just like upper case "I" ? Luckily they let me cancel the bid after a few emails. What a dummy.
