Default Top 5 Poker Affiliate websites

I was chatting with a good friend of mine today, and he asked me"What are the top poker affiliate websites"? After some thought, I realized I didn't have a good answer.

    Here are my guesses
    • Poker Listings (obv)
    • Poker News - Does this count as an affiliate website? Is it one of the top?
    • Play Winning Poker - Ad Based, not sure but up there in traffic -
    • Poker Pages - now owned by Stars so ???
    • Poker Strategy

Ok so I'm really not sure, and I don't mean traffic wise but more of potential income I suppose. Anyway, I'm betting someone on here has this info in their brain. So please let me know your thoughts

These plus probably RakeTheRake and something like Poker Source Online or one of the sites that are huge in another language like Pokerisivut.

It really depends what you mean by "best affiliate website" though.

Yeah, I guess I'm torn between income and traffic. Tightpoker, PSO, TITN, Bonus Whores, probably have to be in there somewhere. Then yeah Karim with RTR, and then maybe PAS? I guess PAS is a different category though as well. hmmmmmmmm

Anyway, I guess just a guess as to the largest true affiliate sites which send the most players to rooms.

I would imagine that RTR are alot bigger than TITN.

In the rakeback vertical RTR are light years ahead of the competition.

Bonuses has gotta be bonus whores.

Obviously pokerlistings feature up there as well.

I assume poker.com is massive although I've never been on the site in my life.

There are also two different ways to look at "traffic". Two sites could get 100 visits in a day, but...
Site #1 gets 97 unique indivduals,
while site #2 get 5 visitors with one person visiting 91 times.

Both things are valuable. Certainly 100 unique visitors is better than one vistor 100 times, but one visitor who returns hundreds of times is also better than one visitor who visits once.

Income is similarly non-clear. Does income mean "net profit for the owner"? Or does it mean gross income, which in the case of PokerPages before being sold meant "high gross income but we pay too many people and we are losing money each month"?

Some "smaller" sites will make the owners more money, while some "larger" sites will pay large staffs and not earn the owners near as much.

So I doubt there is any way at all to get close to a "Top 5 Affiliates" reckoning... maybe other than to say Cardplayer and Pokerlistings are at the top.

This is some very good insight 321. There is certainly some value in having a visitor come back to your site. Back in the day it seemed the big thing was to have someone 'bookmark' a site; where as now it's the goal to have someone opt-in for a newsletter. Regardless the I think original post was to have state that traffic doesn't always equal revenue.

Once you have some traffic, the real money is made from being able to convert visitors into deposit players by taking them through the 'funnel' from SERP to player. This is the 'art' that PPC guys seek when they create landing pages. For some good info on design, check out the latest in landing page designs. Here is a quick take on them.

Yeah good stuff guys. I'm glad its not as easy as it seems to figure this out. Obviously I'm not really worried about who makes more than who, but mainly just the leaders. Meh that's even more confusing.

Oh and also - Although RTR is big - TITN owns - TITN, Bonus Whores, Tight Poker, Poker News Daily, and PSO - I think lol - Don't take this as the gospel, but I'm pretty sure. Anyway, I know more about RTR than I do about non rakeback sites and it may be close but through sheer network volume I think the PSO guys have them. hell who knows lol

Maybe as a top 5 poker site, but as a top 5 poker "affiliate" site; I don't think so.
