Default How do I test my Geo Targetting?

Is there any way for me to see what my site would look like if I was viewing it from the US?

I've set up some Geo Targetting on one of my sites, and I'd like to check it's loading alright.

Is there any way to do this? Or am I going to have to ask one of you guys to check it out for me?

Yeah, US proxy is a pretty simple way of doing it. Just go to proxy.org and choose any of the US ones and visit your site through that. However, these are almost always packed full of ads.

What I like to use is a nice little program that gives you a US IP whilst you browse. It's called "HotSpot Shield" and you get it from www.anchorfree.com. You load him up and it runs in the background, giving you an American IP whilst you browse, so you can view your sites as if you were from the US.

You can turn it on and off as you wish, and it works like a charm. The best thing with this (as well as checking geotargeting) is you can watch all those videos like Family Guy on www.hulu.com. You know when you get that message saying that X video is for a US audience only? Well just run the Hotspot Shield and you can watch them, no problem.

There are minimal ads, and as far as I'm aware there are no problems with it. It was recommended by www.lifehacker.com (<- awesome blog/site by the way), so I'm sure they wouldn't recommend anything dodgy.

    Thanks ThePokerBank!

The HotSpot Shield is what I needed! Not only can I watch shows on Hulu, but now I can see American Google results!

I ranked #1 for a keyword and all of a sudden Google placed me on page two a couple weeks back. I thought it was odd as I was still getting tons of traffic. After installing HotSpot I see that I am still #1 for that term. So obviously Canadian traffic sees things different from the Americans on Google. I always thought they were the same, now I know.

    Thanks again.

I haven't used this myself, but there is a firefox add-on that allows you to see the Google results from a number of different countries, so you wouldn't have to use the HotSpot shield each time.

You da man! That is much better to use, just right click and view. Hotspot Shield is good for Hulu and other U.S. only viewing sites.

I had started a thread titled, 'Free Clipboard Application'. We should rename it to 'Free Applications' or whatnot and get people to post what they think are cool and useful applications for business and fun.

Mmmm - not sure whether it's working or not.

Could someone in the US try visiting bestpokerbonus.co.uk and let me know whether the first table on the left hand side shows US friendly rooms?

    Thanks alot,
