When it comes to seo the domain extension doesn't matter. I have .info which rank well and how much crap do you hear about .info being penalized. What is important is development and marketing, not the extension.
I don't think that's the case. I have many different extensions and .com, .net and .org are ranking a lot better a lot quicker.
As an experiment you can just buy a .eu domain and a .com domain and see which one that ranks better. I can promise you that 110 times out of 100 the .com will outrank .eu domain.

Mackan, if you were Google, wouldn't you want .com to outrank .eu on google.com ? All I am saying is you can easily rank non .com domains with know how and hard work.
Ok so lets make it interesting. You build a .info site and I build a .com site and we'll see who ranks better for a chosen keyword in 12 months.
I am willing to bet you $2K that I am going to rank better with my .com. If you are sure your.info site will rank better then please accept the free money I just offered you.

Thanks for taking what I said completely out of context.![]()
I didn't say .info would rank better then anything.
Look at this search result...

And you know how competitive the travel market is.
I will say it again. Development and marketing is what determines the success of ANY website. NOT the extension. If you are targeting a local market, then get the ccTLD. If not, then any TLD will do. Obviously it's good to have .com but in competitive markets you don't always have a good choice so need to look at other options. And you shouldn't let these rumors that it will be bad for seo deter you.
Bottom line.. if you become an authority in Google you will rank regardless of extension.
No you didn't say .info would rank better but you did say it would rank equally good as a .com. I'm not saying that you are wrong or I'm right. I'm just giving my opinion here and I think the .com will outrank a .info any day.

maybe spain.info fits in that 1/10 chance. I have have never liked .info domains but if you have a great keyword domain I am sure you could make a good site. For .biz and .us I think it could be the same but alot more work as I have not seen many top ranked site with those extensions.
