    Default Domain Appraisal Pls

    Hi Guys,

I registered some euro2012 domains and need some appraisal. From what I heard, many of you americans don't know about the Euros, so probs only get interest from UK and European affiliates I'd presume.

    I have betoneuro2012.com/org/.co.uk/net and betoneuro2012qualifiers.com/co.uk

While this event seems far away, it actually isn't. The euro qualifiers matches are scheduled between September 2010 and October 2011. There are over 300 matches in the euro2012 qualifiers alogether so i think both these domains have value. (this is just qualifier games i'm talking about, the 300+ matche doesnt even include the actual competition in 2012!).

    thanks

If this were a poll I'd vote reg fee.

Like you said though, we Americans know little about Euros.

In general, I think domains with a date are bad idea because there is no long term value.

    Just my opinion though.

Yeah no real value in selling the domains I would think.

You're both American/Canadian, so little unsure. For reference, Euro2012 is a soccer competition just as big almost as world cup (because it only contains european teams yanks won't havn't heard about it - the level of competition and teams is just as great, if not greater than world cup).

If it was betonworldcup2010 you change your mind?

Let's put in in a context that everyone can relate too. Let's say I registered WinterOlympics2014.com. That gives me 4 years of "prep work" to build traffic to it, etc. I'll probably start making some money in 2013 with it, and will probably stop making money in late 2014. What will the value of this domain in... say 2016? Probably not much. So basically, I consider it a higher risk investment. It requires a lot of work to build up, there's potential (emphasis on "potential") for making a shit load of $$$ for a short term (everyone loves Olympic crap!), and then it dies.

Now, had I registered the same domain without a date (WinterOlympics.com), that domain would never loose it's value because of a timestamp.

My opinion is that the only "dated" domains that retain values are those from significant historical events. If I own WWII1945.com (available btw), or something like that, I can see a permanent market. There's a legion of WWII fanatics interested in the topic.

Who's going to care about betoneuro 2012 3 years later? It will be long forgotten. There's no long term potential.

Don't get so tied to exact match domains as most seem to do. Guess what I'm going to say? Build a brand! Why not think about building a site about general football (or as US call it soccer) betting? You then have plenty of scope to cover Euro games, World Cup games, Premiership games and leagues all around the world.

I don't think these domain are worth anything as long as you are not developing them. If you start developing them now they will probably make you some decent money from the time the Qualifers are starting and onwards.

You mentioned Bet on World Cup 2010 | World Cup Betting Odds and I happen to be the owner of that one I don't think that domain would be worth anything either if it wasn't for the fact that I have a pretty decent site there now. But I actually regret that I bought a domain name with the year in it as the site will be worthless after this years WC. I would have been a lot better off with a domain that I could keep using in 2014 and 2018 and so on.
The best World Cup Betting site IMO Try this Awesome Keyword Research Tool and find new niches with low competition.
