    Default Omaha affiliate site

    Hi everyone!

I'm slowly getting into affiliate business - before I buy domain name and start developing website and content I would like to have at least basic insight into how things goes around here As a profession I'm web developer and I already have some knowledge in SEO.

I have been reading PAL forums for a few days now and found it really helpful, thanks everyone, great community. I think I'll just settle here for a while

    To the question:

    - do you think it would be profitable to create omaha website with specialized content? No holdem but strictly omaha? I know more about holdem but I think web is full of standard texas holdem strategy guides.

    - I'm planning to write loads of strategy articles since I think currently there is not enough omaha content over the web. for a website like this, do you think it's smarter to choose easy and understandable domain (playwinningomaha.com or sth like this) or is it better to go with something more unique?

    - when I choose which site to promote - do I just register with their official affiliate program or is there any global network with better deals?

    Thanks A LOT!

Hey - Couple of my random thoughts below...

    - do you think it would be profitable to create omaha website with specialized content? No holdem but strictly omaha? I know more about holdem but I think web is full of standard texas holdem strategy guides.

Yes, there is no reason this can not be profitable, though the search volumes are lower... I do recommend thinking closely about the relative experience level of your audience... people looking to improve their omaha are not usually the complete beginners, may already be familiar with the sites / tools out there and so on... you'll need to pitch your offers right.

    - I'm planning to write loads of strategy articles since I think currently there is not enough omaha content over the web. for a website like this, do you think it's smarter to choose easy and understandable domain (playwinningomaha.com or sth like this) or is it better to go with something more unique?

I'd go with something brandable personally, after all you are not suggesting making a 'hit n run' bonus site but something quality which people would return to and share... no reason you can not find a keyword-rich domain which is also brandable, though your example is fine this is obviously just a spin on an existing brand.

    - when I choose which site to promote - do I just register with their official affiliate program or is there any global network with better deals?

There are relatively few sites with Omaha games really worth promoting imo which should simplify this somewhat... remember that your readers are likely to be familiar with the rooms with decent game volume, you'll need to find a competitive deal - starting with the networks (PAW / PAS etc) may help you to offer these.

    Cheers, Mark

There's no black and white answer to your question. As always, it depends. Some questions you shoudl ask yourself:

Who is my audience target? Are you trying to reach existing TH players and bring them over to the Omaha tables? Are you targeting existing Omaha players and want to help them "build up" their game? Are you trying to grab the average joe off the street and tell them about Omaha and how fun it is and you shoudl totaly try it just click here and do it now! ?

Who you target will influence your approach, and to some degree your keyword analysis.

Once you know who you want to sell to, you have to look at HOW you're going to sell it. If you're targetting experienced players who already play regularly and already understand basic strategy, odds are they already have accounts and the popular poker rooms. If you can't offer them a reason to join a different poker room, you'll never make a penny. They'll just read your strategy content, put in in practice at their existing rooms, and they'll benefit form your site, but yo won't benefit from their visits.

In other words, who you target can influence what rooms you'll promote. Can influence if you offer rakeback or not, and that last decision will influence who you go with as a RB provider.

In terms of networks, etc, PAL has a comprehensive list of rooms you can promote. PokeraffiliateWorld as some good CPA deals for some rooms, and sometimes a direct sign up might be the best option. You have to analysis it room by room. There's not one newtwork that excells at everything, they all have strenghts and weaknesses.

There's also the option of signing up as a subaffiliate in exchange for some support. If you want to talk about that option, send me a PM and we'll talk.

    Who is my audience target?
I totally understand that omaha players are those who already understand holdem games and are probably more experienced // already have accounts on most popular rooms. Still I think there are a lot of those who are willing to learn omaha and are looking for information which rooms have soft competition, what is optimal strategy, etc. This is just my observation, maybe I'm wrong - tell me

One general question: would it be better for inexperienced user to start with something smaller, widely targeted such as website with bonus offers and few beginners articles?
You are always exposing that niches are most important and so I thought that omaha would be the right choice. Or did I completely misunderstood what "niche" means?

MPC&Planet Mark thanks for your time, I appreciate it.
