Default Filtering Traffic on Mini Sites

When you setup a niche mini site, do you filter the traffic so the right traffic can go to the right sponsor?

How many times do you think the wrong countries are sent to the wrong affiliate programs and they can't sign up?

What kinds of strategies are you willing to share to help with this (more than less) common problem?

I have a feeling some of my traffic is going to the wrong places.

There are a few things you can do:

If you have geo targeted calls to action this will pretty much solve the problem entirely. I believe someone on PAL has developed a geo targeted call to action plug-in for WP.

Secondly you need to make your visitors know where they should be going if they are from a certain country. If a certain room doesn’t accept a certain country make that clear!

Thirdly the mini sites that I set up tend to target a specific country anyway. With a minisite you can let google know who you are targetting quite easily. If you use this approach you will rank must faster in that country than simply targeting world wide.

Thanks very much for the reply.

For English speaking players, which country do you think converts the most? Which one has the most volume?

I guess that's some research that I'll also have to find out.

Yeah, geotargeting should take care of most of your concerns and frankly, put you ahead of 95% of competitors. I think most people fail (or do not even try) when it comes to this. Looking at most portals out there, people tend to promote the same exact sites, over and over again, in the same exact way.

start here -> Google Trends: poker

Notice that English isn't even in the top ten.

Take it a step further. So what if you don't have a translated site, chances are someone who visits your site from one of these countries speaks English + their native language. Why not try and convert them by using a room that caters specifically to THEIR country?

For example -> Google Trends: poker770

Obviously, a popular french poker room.

You don't strike me as the kind of person who needs to have their hand held through this process, but that should point you in the right direction with regards to your conversion / volume question.

Thank you! And thanks for the compliment. I was thinking about these things because I remember when I joined some sites ... I couldn't simply because I was from Canada and NOT the US.

Wasted traffic is wasted sales. Thanks for all your suggestions I will post more if I have any others. Thanks!
