    Default Am I allowed to use other people's youtube vidoes on my site?

    I don't know whether this is an obvious answer, but am i allowed to use any youtube tournament strategy video and put it on my site?

    I assume since it's technically the property of youtube that there's no problem at all using other people's videos. They're there for public use and viewing.

    ..On the other hand, using other people's pictures or copying articles is "wrong", so maybe it's the same for using youtube videos?

    Just want to clarify.

    If anyone has any common sense, they would watermark a video they put on YouTube. Plus, if they don't want it shared, the owner of the video could disable embedded videos.

    In other words, use any video you would like, but a personal touch goes a mile.

    I agree with JD any video that has an embed code and not watermarked is fair game.

    I use other people's videos if they allow embedding. I have never received a takedown request.

    I was pretty sure that when people submit videos to youtube they were giving anyone and everyone the right to embed them on their sites, whether they knew that or not.

    I had a quick browse through the terms and found this:

    10.1 When you upload or post a User Submission to YouTube, you grant:

    A. to YouTube, a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable licence (with right to sub-licence) to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display, and perform that User Submission in connection with the provision of the Services and otherwise in connection with the provision of the Website and YouTube's business, including without limitation for promoting and redistributing part or all of the Website (and derivative works thereof) in any media formats and through any media channels;

    B. to each user of the Website, a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, licence to access your User Submissions through the Website, and to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display and perform such User Submissions to the extent permitted by the functionality of the Website and under these Terms.
    YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

    I think that pretty much allows you to embed as many videos as you like and keep them up even if the video owners were to ask you to take them down.

    Of course mate, they would want you to do this. It's more exposure for the video and it's not like it's wasting their own bandwidth.

    It's rather much the intent of youtube and its publishers to allow for embedding on other websites. It's also an excellent way to add content to your blogs.

    I think even watermarked video's are okay, if you want to use them. That is the whole point of them allowing the embed code to be visible. You are doing them a favor. I would be ecstatic if I found anybody had embedded my videos, either for the promotional exposure or just for the compliment.

    Watermarked videos are OK to use, I was saying that the watermark allows for credit to be given where it is due, making them OK to use.
