No More French Players on Cake Network

Just a heads up for those of you referring French players. Rooms on the Cake Network will no longer be accepting French players.

Due to the recent passage of a new French law all persons resident in France will no longer be allowed to access poker services and play for real money on any turnkey partner site which is part of the Cake Network. As of 4pm GMT, Friday April 9th, no French resident will be able to open a new real money account and any French resident who holds an existing account will not be allowed to play on the Cake Network

I hate online poker doomsday prophecy's, but the games were/are dead enough the way it is.

Actually the law is quite positive because it allows online poker and abandons the monopoly. I guess Cake just doesn't have a license yet.

Interested to see what the other sites do, also see this as a positive though. Big population and good incomes... just need to work out a strategy for getting involved.

Keep in mind the World Series of Poker, Word Series (baseball) and just about every other World Championship other than soccer and that game with a stick, occur with limited participation outside the USA, and when it does it's mostly Canadians. Now with that said I don't think this is any major loss. The chat logs will probably be clearer now too because those frenchies talk funny. This is a good move for that reason alone. Now if they'd just ban all the rest of the countries except Canada, and called themselves the "World's best poker site" I'm sure there numbers would go way up. In short.. just another great decision by Cake Poker to make a move in the right direction.. Rock on and Good Game France! Better Luck Next Time!.

They likely are withdrawing so they can enter legally, like Stars did in Italy.
