    Question Poker News sites?

I just published an article comparing bonus win back rates of various rooms, and I think this might be something a lot of players might be interested in. This is because the payback rates vary a LOT room by room, and really depends on what your play style is as well.

If this was one of my tech sites, I would notify a mailing list of news sites I have, and they would post it on their sites (this keeps their content fresh, and a lot of sites have huge readerships just doing news). Is there something similar for poker sites? Or do poker webmasters not want to send traffic to "competitors" since we're all basically promoting the same 10 poker rooms?

I'm not new to webmastering but I'm new to poker sites. Thanks!

One of the best ways to get your news out there and distributed across other poker sites is via RSS or even better to get listed in Google News.

Typically poker webmasters do not post others content or link to the content unless it is very compelling and something they probably cannot write on their own.

Well this took many many hours to research, calculate, and compile. Hopefully someone here is compelled to spread the word

What are some RSS feeds to submit to?

I think the problem is that the typical poker webmaster doesn't care about their CPA players in the least. As long as the player signs up, deposits and qualifies, the webmaster is happy.

So an article like this makes a typical poker webmaster think "whatever, ignorance is bliss for my signups" and just says it isn't worth sending traffic away from their site to educate someone who will sign up under them regardless of any educational article.

Yeah, I am noticing big differences between how this site needs to be promoted, compared to the ones I've been running for the last 10 years. It certainly makes my days more interesting!

You could always try stumbling or digging them, that would be your best chance of getting traffic. If the visitors find the page really useful and informative they should vote for it, and then you can expect to see a lot of traffic coming your way.

Unfortunately, I don't think poker webmasters are as generous when it comes to linking out to other poker sites as non-gambling webmasters might be.

Yeah I put it on Digg, but man the "Other Sports" section is nothing but spam. It will take at least 20 or 30 to get out of that hole.

BTW if you don't mind, please digg the article

I was actually thinking to do exactly the same thing today! - but my mind dropped it, as I think I would not have the time to do it :-)

    Exellent idea!

Maybe you could add what rakeback % the bonuses equals when cleared? I mean, rakeback is a word almost any poker player know and it gives them someting to relate to. Just a thought

If I do that, I think it would be on a rakeback specific site. We'll see

I did see a nifty rakeback calculator on a site specific to Full Tilt. I thought that was pretty cool

So I decided to mention it to people who are following me on Twitter, and got great feedback from all the other poker affiliates on there. Then I DM'd FlopTurnRiver.com who had started following me yesterday. I thought this kind of content would be perfect for his readers. He took a look at the article, and said he can't post it because I am an affiliate.. Then he de-followed me! What an ass!

So you were right... Poker affiliates sure are nice to each other here on the forums, but don't want their precious readers going elsewhere to get any new info from *gasp* another poker site!
