Default ChipLeader Changes its T&C for Multi-Accounts

Read Below. So the way I see this is if I promote both AP & UB on my website, and a new player signs up and creates an account with AP, then signs up (maybe minutes later) with UB, and after trying both decides to play forever after at UB, the referring affiliate is out of luck. Am I reading this correctly ? AP and UB have a free-flowing relationship, which allows seamless transfer of money to/from one account to the other, to encourage the use of both, but now they aren't going to give an affiliate credit if the creation timestamp comes in 2nd, and that's where the player decides to play ? Comments please.

    Dear Affiliate,

In an effort to address the issue of multiple accounts on the CEREUS network, we've made some changes to the Chipleader Terms & Conditions.

As you're aware, the affiliate Terms & Conditions for both Absolute Poker and UB have always stated that any commission and/or tagging of a player to an affiliate account must be a NEW player.

Beginning April 19th, a NEW player is only allowed one account to be tagged and/or commission to be paid on the CEREUS network.

In the past, a single NEW player could technically be new at both Absolute Poker and UB. With the change, only one account per player on the CEREUS Network can be tagged and will be eligible to earn a commission for affiliates.

For example, if a player has one account with Absolute Poker and another account with UB, only the first account opened by that player will earn their affiliate a commission.

Please note that in the event that a commission is paid to an affiliate on a player's second CEREUS account, that commission will be debited from the affiliate's monthly payment. If you're a rakeback affiliate in this scenario, you will only be debited your profit. We will not debit the rakeback paid to the player.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with your affiliate manager.

    Thanks,

    The Chipleader Team

great opening statement to try to cover up the real reason they would implement this.

Sometimes i wander if they soon will turn absolute poker into an info site and use it to link up ub.net to make it officially dominate the "online poker" rankings in google. I've played AP alot and never UB, primarily because AP is the first room i played at and they have pretty good promos and soft sng competition.

At the same time, UB is not really any different in terms of game experience and promotions offered. It is simply the stronger branch based on Pro representation and mainstream ads. This makes me sometimes wander if UB will eventually just try to move all the players over to there branch. Just a thought i have sometimes, don't know if it has a whole lot of validity.

What can you say, this is astounding on so many levels. Though I will reserve opinion until I can speak to someone (of course we get sent this on Friday evening). What about players that signed up in 2004, let's say someone signed up in 2004 a week before on AP and a week later on UB. That UB account gets them rakeback. The way this reads we would be charged for their rakeback, lol.

Not sure exactly how bad we just got screwed but this is definitely precedent setting. No room has EVER changed their rules retroactively to this extent.

I am trying to get an answer on whether or not this predates their merger, if so then wow. I just can't imagine how that could be fair.

Is this the reason Poker Savvy just pulled AP and UB out of their program?

    This is retro-active?

I read it as 'from now on this is how it will be'

I sure hope it's not retroactive but honestly it's not written that clearly.

"In the past, a single NEW player could technically be new at both Absolute Poker and UB. With the change, only one account per player on the CEREUS Network can be tagged and will be eligible to earn a commission for affiliates.

These are the paragraphs of concern. If it's not retroactive what affect would it have on multi-accounting?

I guess I wish they didn't address it...

So multiple accounts are allowed? Cross promotion will encourage it? But they wont pay on the second?

I guess if I was chipleader I would cross promote players to the other room and offer them huge first/re deposit bonuses. They will have the entire affiliate cut to spend...

I hope this is poorly worded and they are just tagging them all to the initial referrer. Time will tell.

It certainly doesn't make sense that this would address multi accounting if indeed you could have multiple accounts. LOL

I think all PAL members attending the Prague convention should buy a box of rotten tomatoes and hand deliver them in a mass group to their booth each day.

What a bunch of bullshit, especially from a company that has been guilty of shady dealings in the past.

They should be doing everythign in their power to earn back affiliates and players trust, not trying to screw them over more.
