    Default Domain Appraisals

    Hi,

Are domain appraisals worth getting? Are there companies that do it better then others? Will a domain appraisal only base it on the brand that the domain may be associated with? The reason i ask is because i had a company email me saying they wanted to offer to buy my xxxxx.com domain for $xxxx. They also said they want appraisals done on any other domains i may have to sell to them as it is common practice. If it is worth it what are some reputable places to get this done?

    Thanks Guys

    No they're not worth getting

Your better off either asking here or namepros.com or you can even pm me and I'll give you an idea if your domains are worth anything.

Jdogg. What you're talking about is a common SCAM. Don't get the appraisals done.

Basically, these people will set up a simple appraisal website (of which you can get the scripts for free) and email as many domain owners as they can offering over-inflated prices. The owner gets all excited and says 'sure, let's make a deal' and the buyer says 'no problem but I'd like an appraisal done at this website first.' which is their appraisal website and you normally have to pay a couple of bucks for it. Once you get the appraisal done you won't hear from them again.
They have your money from the appraisal and there's nothing you can do.

Anyway, in general, appraisals are not worth getting done. There are many people here qualified to appraise domains, especially gambling domains who will do it for free. Somewhere like Namepros is also a good place to ask for appraisals.

I agree appraisals are mostly not worth it, investigate who's buying and why - plus dig into details like the competition for the phrase if it's an exact match, or amounts of search volume.

Hey thanks a lot. I really thought this felt like a scam. I'm going to email them back and see what they say when i tell them i'll get my own appraisal done at a website of my choice. Thank you for the help!

PS. I just bought ournfl.com what do you think of this one? Sports Betting maybe?

The term our nfl gets 390 broad searches, and not enough exact searches to display. Unless it's an aged domain with pr, my appraisal would be that it wasn't worth registering unless you have long term plans to establish a brand with it.
