    Default Looking for a mentor!

Hello, Im not sure if this is the right place to post it, if its not i apologise in advance.

As some of you may know times are tough as a professional poker player and im basically trying my hardest to tread water and i think nows a good time to get out of playing. I have had a few failed attempts at affiliate sites but was a successful affiliate back in 06/07 before i became a professional poker player.

Im looking for a mentor, someone who has a decent ammount of success in this industry (Making 5figures+ per month) Obviously nothing is free in this life and id definitely be willing to sub under you and pay you for "coaching", i believe education and being willing to act on the information is a way to get success in anything, i just need the information part

If your interested please PM me or get to me at: andy.laptop[at]gmail.com

    Thanks,

i've read some of your articles on you're site and the content was super good (Table Selection and Fish Positions around the Table), apart form some minor grammer issues here an there.

You should look into getting an actual writing gig for a legit site that can pay you for your knowledge. Not only do you have some good experience and knowledge, but you now have experience in webmastering and a bit of seo.

I'm sure you could also potentially get in with a poker training site as they are starting to boom. You have a site up with some good content to reference so i would think that if you look around you could find some success apart from the headaches of trying to manipulate search engines.

    Hi Squizzel/Andy

Free poker training videos and stategy articles has a Google PR of 3 ( excellent by the way) and a huge amount of great content.

    I'm impressed.

There is no reason why you shouldn't be making good money with that site.

Didn't I PM you to look at your keyword site stats and offer to help you?

Your site... Mose and Tag are so close to becoming niche affiliate dream sites that I can't help but reply to this post.

You say you need a mentor?

You have been offered an incredible amount of expert information from this forum from what I've seen.

You just aren't listening and taking action on that advice.

I'm sure you could also potentially get in with a poker training site as they are starting to boom. You have a site up with some good content to reference so i would think that if you look around you could find some success apart from the headaches of trying to manipulate search engines.
I like addaminsane's advice some what

Turn your site into a poker training/membership site... yes they are booming if you know how to market yourself as an expert who can teach players how to win....... what does every online poker player want .... to win more money and tournaments..... winning tournaments = money - prestige and hot girls!

You don't need a mentor...... you need a good slap on the face

You know what you need to do.... now just do it!!!

    Hey Dave,

yeah, i really think i have the skills to suceed but i really do have a huge personal battle with playing/affiliating. Over the past 3 years ive basically made a decent chunk of change each year playing and find it really hard to stop. Before playing i was making decent money as an affiliate but quit that to play poker. This time i feel like i need to quit playing and commit fully to websites. The games are getting tougher and its just a battle to stay afloat earning the same as you did last year.

One of my dreams and ultimate goals is to become a world class poker player, who makes alot of money, is known by alot of people and gain alot of sucess and significance in the industry. I have come to the conclusion that thats just something too hard to do for me, if i havent made it huge by now, theres not much chance i will, despite being very good and able to earn around 6 figures a year playing i dont think ill be in the elite club earning 2, 3, 400k anytime soon.

That being said im convinced by some of the people who i have talked to on this forum that there is alot of money to be made in the affiliate industry. I think if i just commit to this and truly decide its what i want to do and put myself into this fully there is no way i am going to fail. What worried me the most is i will start with another project and then get the urges to play again and stop with my project. I guess i need to fully want to change to do it, i really am unsure if i will be able to do it.

I guess this was a bit emo, so if you read this and are now bored, sorry.

The biggest thing i want out of getting a mentor is basically to pay someone so that i can run ideas by them, let them give me advice on my ideas, basically keep me on the right track and make sure im following through with the stuff i want to do. I dont need handholding about basic things.

    do you by chance:

    - like to continuously write about poker in a news related and when necessary, educational way? Or would you simply get bored of that eventually.

    - have sportsbetting experience? (optional)

I've been looking for these credentials to personalize a few things I'm working on. If you're interested, add me on skype under 'lawrns' and we can talk some more.

[edit]Just reviewed your website some more, and you should really get this fixed asap. Even if you wanted to, there currently is no way to convert all the visitors you have into proper dollars. WTF !!!!!!??? You're throwing it away as we speak! I don't know if you don't have any scripting experience or have trouble building some conversion props for your website, but add me on skype and let's get it done! Nowwww[/edit]

This snippet pretty much sums it up.

I also had a few brief conversations with you on skype but you never followed up with me.

I've been a professional poker player living in Las Vegas for over 10 years and got into being an affiliate about 5 years ago kind of on accident. Now I split my time evenly between the two and do pretty well at both.

This is actually what I prefer to do with my sub-affiliates, talk more about "Big Picture" type of ideas, if they will work, pro's, con's, etc. Basically help them help themselves

I wrote a fairly decent article for an affiliate magazine a few years ago, everything is pretty much still relevant, here is a link to the article which starts on page 21:

    EU vs. Greece &the Netherlands

You can hit me up on skype anytime,

Another idea could be to partner up (50% - 50%) with an affiliate pro who knows about SEO and conversions. You deliver the content, and he takes care of conversions. That way you can learn things that you can implement on your other sites.
