Question Regarding Graphics Usage.

EDIT: - Sorry for maybe posting in the wrong section - but if anyone also has graphic services we could use from time to time could you send your rates - this was not mentioned earlier. I am sorry.

Planning on running News articles on one of our sites related to Poker and Casino news i am finding it difficult to figure out how to use graphics.

I will be running 2 articles per day - Monday to Friday at 10 per week.

Each article i would like to have one pic each embedded in the article. This obviously would related to the article title and story.

I view other sites and notice they usually have their own in house photographer who takes these photos. However we do not have this available yet.

Also i notice many news sites just copy other web sites works which we will never do unless given permission.

how would i go about getting appropriate photos or graphics we can use to implement within the articles?

Ideally we want them in all our articles but that could run 10 per day at times which is to much.

So for now were looking at 2 per day at 10 per week until we can have a perm solution.

I do not know much about the usage of graphics but would kindly ask if anyone knows about this or can help in anyways to Pm me.

Any ideas on what we can do or not do - i know i cant copy pics from other sites and such, but how does one get graphics for articles...

All the writers i speak too say they do not handle this and have no clue.

Any thoughts?

I used to have someone design custom images for me for $4 a pop. Cheap as chips and did some great work but was a bit of hassle having to explain ideas for each image. He went on to bigger and better things but if you browse digital point you can find so many cheap and good designers.

If you want real life pics then I can only think of iStock as Hazo has already mentioned or sxc.hu. I don't think that real life pics would necessarily be better than designed images though anyway.

I think the best option that trumps both of these is to design them yourself. Even if you're absolutely terrible then it's still totally unique and will be "your thing". They won't be super serious but Perez Hilton is well known for his images, and he only just about figured out how to use the brush tool (although he does steal his images in the first place I guess).

Also, try flickr. Go to advanced search > Creative Commons licensed.

I think i have it covered now. I like istock for sure i will certainly use some there.

Likewise flickr is cool - just link back is needed. no probs!!

And of course do our own. What i would do is if we cant find one on a particular day I would get our graphic guy to make one..

Now its time to implement....
