The idea is to start a website from scratch. Every aspect of starting a website (including registering a domain name). If you are going to use a domain name that you already have, then maybe it is or maybe it is not "premium" but to make things simple and fair - everyone would just start by registering a fresh domain name. I dont understand why that is such a difficult thing to understand.I don't understand this at all. If you start the website on the same date and it's based on success, then why does it matter if you got to buy a domain or if you use one lying around? The only real difference or advantage would be to use premium domains - and even that wouldn't be that big a deal in my opinion.
A) You took what I was saying (not seriously btw) wrong. I was just simply saying that if you had an issue with registering a $8 domain name, then my guess would be that you wouldnt care much about the "challenge" or whatever you want to call it anyways. That would be what translates into soft competition. Nothing to do with your skill sets, or ability to make money with a website. Registering a new domain name would be part of it. I was talking about building a site from the ground up starting with nothing. That means starting without a domain name. Using a pre-existing domain name would take away from that, which imo (right or wrong) defeats the purpose of what I am attempting to do here.I can't even wrap my head around this - it doesn't make sense. I don't see how my lack of desire to reg a new $8 domain translates into soft competition. With that said, I'll take my non-premium domain and go head-to-head with your kid/prem domain anytime......I think you just read too much into what I said - but please just read/take this as it is written (my challenge to you).
B) The purpose of this thread is not to say that I am better then you or anyone else at anything. The purpose was to have fun with it and have a nice competition. At the same time, hopefully everyone involved would end up with a solid website at the end of the challenge.
C) I did not mean to offend you. I apologize if I came off the wrong way.
It was just kind of an idea...I thought it would be better to develop the idea further with a group of interested people, versus doing it myself. However, I didnt expect that anyone would object to registering a domain name. You haven't proposed much - maybe this is why there have been questions/confusion.
I guess it doesn't matter...just wasn't what I had in mind.
