For sure, you either have to know everything through years of research, or get very lucky lol I prefer to take the safe road and invest in popular stocks.

Back in 2003/20004 I played the penny stocks for while. Talk about a crazy ride, the swings were ridiculous. The stock market is fun if you realize it is the equivalent of a casino.

The easiest time to make money is when things are trending down. The stock market is really like a grand betting exchange, most people only bet for things to go up, but there's a hell of a lot of money to be made by betting that things go down. The only bad environment is a stagnant one in fact, where things aren't moving much either way. That's a problem we don't have though

This all does take a significant bit of skill but probably much less so than a lot of people realize. You do have to spend the time and money to learn to become proficient though before you start playing with any kind of serious money, as is the case with poker as well.
