Default The investment / wealth building forum

I always wanted to have a forum like this. It's crazy that so many affiliates have "funny money" every month and have no idea what to do with it.

Although we're all affiliates and internet marketers, I hope we can use this forum to discuss the best ways to invest our money and build long term wealth. Hell, I'm 32 and unfortunately I am going to have to start thinking about retiring in 8 years......

I like the potential of this forum though and I'm looking forward to learning a few things from people with much better financial planning skills than me.

My financial planning consists of hoping I make more each day affiliating than I lose in the stock market.

This might have to become my new signature file. I have never heard anything so true in the last 3 months!

Does it count as investing if I buy more poker sites with my earnings? That's about the extent of my investments, but I should probably start to think of something more long term.

    trikkur,

that is absolutely considered investing. in the simplest form you want to maximize your return on every dollar you spend. so if you think spending money in buying poker related sites will earn more for you over the life of the 'investment' than getting 6% or whatever in a money market, or the standard 8-10% in the markets(maybe not now), then you are doing a wise thing.

there is the concept of diversification however, so at this point while growing your business its good to reinvest all your capital, at some point though you are going to want to consider diversifiying away from the poker business, and build a portfolio, or start a different type of business.

i have diversified my poker affiliate business into several different niches of affiliate marketing, my next diversification goal is affiliate marketing outside poker. when i started all of my eggs were in party poker, lucky i had established relationships with other rooms, when party shit the US bed, i had enough foothold with other programs to get traction there. i also employ mgr, rakeback, cpa, and free bankroll activites to diversify just within poker affiliate marketing. ths has seriously helped me weather storms over the past 5 years. i have had time where my freebankroll business carried the rest of my operations, or my rakeback business carried my company, had it not been for my diversifying, i may not have a company at all at this point, and i could be working for the man(ahhhh those hideous words!!!)

that was more than i intended to type, but i like most of you are excited about a forum that will attract likeminded, serious folks, here to talk about real topics and can gain from the advice of others. so i want to do my part in sharing my experiences to help this place get going...

    best
