    Arrow About the webhosting

I'm a webdesigner and I know how to set up my website, but I have no idea what's the type of hosting I need to start. Once you receive high traffic.. what's the type of hosting you need for that?

What's called "good traffic" in this business.. 1000, 5000 visitors, a day, a week?

    Thanks in advance..

I would start up with a basic account at Blue Host and then move to a VPS laster down the track if you need it.

yeah just start it small. rome was not built at one day moving to a new hoster shouldnt be a problem.

good traffic is not about the masses. its about targeting.
1000visitors a day are useless if they do not exatly find what they are searching for on your website.
its all about finding a niche, a target group and bring exactly these ppl to your website in order to get maximum conversions.

I would suggest you start with shared hosting at bluehost then move to a dedicated server when you start making serious money on your domains.

Good traffic is the one with the best conversion rate, not just numbers. From my experience the lowest converting traffic comes from "strip" and "free" poker kind of domains.

I use a very basic $6 shared hosting at Hostgator, and have no problem having over 100 online at the same time. Don't waste money on big servers until you have tons of traffic..

Godaddy is good too if you have low traffic.

you're lucky then because I've crashed three hostgator shared accounts with 5,000 daily visitors (not sure how many at same time but got to guess where same range correct?) and was finally asked to to leave. Sure i'm not alone in the being asked to leave column here as well.

I do agree though. don't waste money until you need to. Just wanted to point out also though not to do planning that 100 user at the same time on a $6 shared hosting account is going to work either because for most it won't.
If you're going to bet US Sports online - I strongly suggest 5Dimes.com or Bookmaker.eu.

thanks for all this info guys. =)

What do you think about those web hosting sites that say everything is UNLIMITED... do we have to trust them? is unlimited for real, or it's just a marketing strategy?

    Thanks.

I would definitely start small, I pay $4.99 a month and host 8 websites on it. As for the unlimited thing be sure to read all of the fine print, you will usually not be permitted to host something that will use a large amount of bandwidth or disk space.
They may also restrict the amount of bandwidth you can use at any one given time.
If you're just starting out in the affiliate industry I don't imaging you will run into any issues with bandwidth.

They usually post it as being unlimited and somewhere in fine print (or told to you after the fact) is it is unlimited so long as at any given time you do not use more than 25% of that servers overall resources.

This is not a concern for most and while a hassle is ultimately not a bad problem to have. Although I did develop a site that would not fit on any shared hosting plans and ended up costing more to run then it made once so in that case it was a bad problem to have .
