Default UIGEA affects on Affiliate/Rakeback industry

Have been considering entering the rakeback industry (likely using PAS), but am wondering if I should wait until we see if UIGEA gets implemented on June 1st and if so, how it affects the industry for a bit? It seems like it would dramatically limit new sign ups and may be a rough time to get started.

I would be interested to hear from any veterans in the affiliate/rakeback industry as to your thoughts on what will happen, and how you expect it to impact your businesses assuming it gets implemented on June 1st.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts...

I'm far from an experienced affiliate (I'm more in your boat, actually), but I think it wouldn't be a bad idea.

It is impossible to predict what exactly is going to happen, since June 1 isn't a date where any new legislation is getting implemented, but rather the date that financial institutions can be penalized for failing to comply with the UIGEA.

Most banks are already warning suspicious accounts, so it's possible there will be little to no change when June 1 hits. On the other hand, they might crack down much more and block a lot more transactions.

A stricter attitude from banks might actually put the wheels in motion for actual change and possibly legalized U.S. poker sometime down the road, but who knows.

I guess I'd say it couldn't hurt to wait. You won't absolutely clean up right off the bat and it's only a month to wait. But I'm curious to hear what some actual affiliates say...
