Is it cool to take someone elses disclaimer or privacy policy like PL's and edit in your website name?

Anyone? I read online that it's ok as long as the name is changed. I don't want to do it if it's frowned upon though.

I'd suggest using a free automated generator (example). They generate it with your company name and such. You can always add on or remove parts to fit your site and concerns.

having a t&c does not protect you from people "coming after you", for what it's worth. what are you worried about specifically?

If you are in a different jurisdiction or have a different type of website, is not only uncool, but could also create problems.
Especially for the privacy policies, if you don't read what it says.
