    Default Advertising using facebook

Anybody run an ad campaign on facebook? I recently ran an ad there for a short while and wasn't very happy at all with my click through rate. Either my ad was just awful or maybe people weren't interested in my topic. I had a lot of impressions though but clicks were way down.

Would like to hear if people think running ad campaigns on facebook for their poker sites fan page have been successful or not worth it?

I think what you have to keep in mind, is that adds are often there one minute and gone the next, from a users point of view, I often see an add and think, looks intersting, I'll give a look in a moment, but then its gone, this happens when you click through to what you were most interested in, then you click back and new adds!.

In my opinion there are much better ways to advertise on Facebook and it isn't the paid for type!, its the effort type, ie put in and you will get out!.

Is a Facebook page devoted to your web-site considered spam by the search engines? Or can you use it to promote your sites? Same with Twitter, when you search poker there it is nothing but short quick spam like ads for the various contributors! Won't that hurt you in the long run?

I agree. Facebook people are not in the mood to click on adds. I ran a very targeted test campaign and had a CTR of 0.05%. I think itīs just not worth it.

You have to do testing through trial and error.

Facebook campaigns can get very expensive very quickly. But of course they can be uber profitable. Check out Shoemoneys bit about FB adveristing which is really cool.

FB click thru rates are almost always going to be .0x %.

I think you just have to have a very solid / unique reason for advertising on FB (e.g. you have a promo running on your FB page or content that specifically appeals to FB users for some reason) or it's not really worth it.
