Default How do you balance your time?

I have always worked away from home until the last few months. Randy and I stay very busy with our children. They are involved in baseball, football, basketball, softball, track, and we even have a cheerleader. So, to say that we have a busy life is an understatement.

I have found that since I am working at home there doesn't seem to be a beginning or end to the workday. Every free moment I have I am working. Does anyone set certain hours to work, or is this just the norm for working at home? I have found that it is very hard to take a break when I know that there is so much stuff that needs to be done. I feel that I may be more neglectful to my children now that I am working at home than I was when I worked outside of the home. How does everyone else deal with this?

I think you have to find a way to separate work from your down time, even when you're working from home. If you don't burning out will be inevitable.

My biggest problem is lack of a schedule. Sometimes i'll sit at the computer for 14 hours straight. Other times I'll just go out for the day and not come back. In a way though, that's what I love about the job. However, in terms of income progression, it probably doesn't help, but for productivity I think it definitely helps me to stay motivated. However, in situations with g/f, family, friends it can be hugely -EV as they expect you to spend time with them more, pay attention, go out and do stuff regularly, something that better scheduling would definitely help me with.

I set aside 4pm -9pm every week day for family time and during these hours no phones ,emails or computers.I work longer hours during the week so we can enjoy our cottage on weekends. In winter months i work 7 days a week most times so i can keep this schedule during the nice weather months.of course that is just a guideline and if i need to take some days off for special things we do as well.

My solution is to impose a precise period of work and after that I do anything else. Do not understand that I do some daily schedule to respect strictly.
