    My $5k plan:

    - Find a Good Niche with CPAs
    - Buy a Keyword Domain for up to $3k (Get a Good Price, .com/co.uk/net only*)
    - Spend $500-$1k on 50 pages of well-written content
    - Invest the remaining $1k-$1.5 on links

Another plan would be hire an expert to write an ebook on whatever topic and sell that on a website instead.

I just read shay's post which imo is great advice. The only part I disagree with is spend no more than $100 on a domain, but the rest is awesome.

Search and find a domain you're thrilled to own, don't settle and don't buy it the same day you find it (even if that means missing it). I've had so many domains I though were the deal of a lifetime, or thought this is for sure the site I'm going near all in on - only to the next morning, a week later, 4 weeks later or whatever end up nowhere near as excited about it.

Take the time to consider the domains - but in the end the domain is your brand. No matter what it is you're the artist and the site is a reflection of yourself. Find a domain that's in synergy with what it you'd like to portray and accomplish. If you have $5K and the domain cost $8.14, $59.00, or $723 or $2500 in the grand scheme of things it won't make a major different. You'll do much better building off a domain you LOVE and are proud to own. I've made the mistake too many times (and am battling with whether or not I'm making it now) dealing with 3 word .org domains instead of a great two word .com I loved.

If you're going to bet US Sports online - I strongly suggest 5Dimes.com or Bookmaker.eu.

Some succeed because they are destined to, but most succeed because they are determined to.

I agree about not buying a domain the second you see it, I have a folder on my computer full of domains, funny enough snoods.org is in there before adds picked it up, Carlos Teves fault that whole thing I reckon. Doing that makes you second think your original plans for them, many many times you will notice you dont buy them.

I would buy a few (simple/straightforward!) sites that are already making money. Try to optimize these and increase the income. When you are making enough then it's time to think of some original concepts that will make a difference.
