Default What's a reasonable time to wait for payment?

Rarely have issues with collecting payment, mostly by not dealing with idiots to begin with.

But I am waiting for a payment for a blog post.

He gets back to me within an hour of contacting him to confirm the deal, so I write the article and publish it with his link.

It's been 60 hours since publishing the article and not a word or payment since the last communication. His PM was to the effect "If you can send your paypal details I will make payment." which to me suggests he is paying before I even write the article, but whatever.

How long should I wait before chasing payment or deleting the blog post from my site?

Well if it helps, it pisses me off no end when people remove any purchases we've made. I usually start getting chased for payments within 12 hours - even on weekends! There's been a number of cases where we have purchased space on a Friday afternoon and by the Monday it's been removed.

In most business scenarios payment terms are at least 2 weeks, but more often 28 days. I realise ad space purchases like this are a bit different, but I still allow at least a week when I'm doing the selling before approaching them. Longer if it's like a "proper" company who I have an existing relationship with.

Depends what you agreed/wrote on the invoice. My invoicing terms are 15 days - I will shoot a reminder on the 16th day and chase heavily after 30. Some people will take up to 60 days to pay!

Obviously I don't want to go down the path of removing the link. There were no invoicing terms it was a deal that was organised via PM. If he doesn't notify me otherwise, he can't expect that I will wait that long for payment. If he needed a longer time then what's considered a normal time frame to pay, then the decent thing to do would be to ask if I am ok with it before confirming the link placement and getting me to write the article. I think I will wait 4 days before attempting to chase him up by other means.

according to Carbon Poker you should be paid immediately upon due. According PokerStars one month plus a few extra days in case we're sick or had other things to do is plenty good enough. Myself I like to go the Carbon Poker model, when owe someone no sense for delay I submit payment notice and expect we'll be paying it at the start of the business day if off hours or before close if during hours. When owed i'm flexible but do always negotiate payment terms and expect to be paid on that day. If no terms are set who knows.

If you're going to bet US Sports online - I strongly suggest 5Dimes.com or Bookmaker.eu.

I would just request payment upfront from people you don't know or haven't dealt with before.

You have a good rep here and have earned that right, imo.

I Think you should have a terms of Agreement
Use email to confirm agreement between the 2 parties
If a major job possibly ask for a gd faith 10% deposit to start job

I have always negotiated or accepted the Terms of service prior to work being carried out
like if you have a gd reputation for providing a gd service
a 10% deposit to start job is gd for both you and the peep requesting the service

    Hope this helps
