    Default Questions about cookies?

    Hi to all PAL community,

I wanted to ask some questions about the subject, because I've read a lot about the same, but it seems that the more I read more confused I get.

I was wondering if you prefer to always use bonus codes in addition to just the regular tracking links? The bonus codes overlaps to cookies placed? The bonus codes don't produce effect?

I wanted to know if normally, you instruct your traffic to clear their cookies before signing up with you? This is bad?

    Please clarify me on this.

    Thanks.

    Boban

Whether or not bonus code overrides cookies is different site to site.

You're not likely to get too much response in this thread because if you're discussing telling players to delete cookies, then this means you're likely engaging in some type of business that steals players away from other affiliate (i.e bonus code marketing, rakeback marketing etc.).

On the average website that provides visitors value, telling them to delete cookies or mentioning things like "our links" will only reduce your conversions not improve them. Natural links when clicked without the association of affiliate involvement will have the highest click to sign up, and sign up to RMP, ratios.

So depends what type of site you're building.
If you're going to bet US Sports online - I strongly suggest 5Dimes.com or Bookmaker.eu.

Some succeed because they are destined to, but most succeed because they are determined to.

I doubt the average player would even know what cookies are. Adding confusion or more effort to the sales funnel is never going to be a good thing.

pokerprop, I understood what you said, the reason why i asked was because I saw many times this situation on rakeback sites and not in poker bonus sites.

Can you develop more, i.e., what I want to know is, if a player has already a cookie placed of another affiliate tracking links, but he sign-up through a bonus code of my site, who is the affiliated of this player?

True. But it is important to me for obvious reasons.

At EverestPoker the bonus code won't even work unless the cookie matches.
At Cake Poker the sign up bonus code overrides cookies.
At some other sites cookie is the only means of tracking

It is different at every program and you should check with the affiliate manager for each company you are promoting.

I'll tell you right now - very few visitors will trust a site telling them clear cookies and click a link. An extremely small percentage might fall for the idea this is needed to get the bonus, but you're going to lose more players than you will gain asking for this.
