Default Is it to late to become an affiliate? (US player here)

Poker is one of my favorite things to do. Nothing is better than sitting around a table playing cards, making good conversation, meeting people, and drinking. If you play for money and you win its a great feeling. If you lose, well it was still fun and you still had a good time and maybe made a new friend or two.

I started Internet Marketing a year and a half ago. Tho I never bought a domain or learned how to build a website.. I did think outside of the box and put a little twist to get traffic to my offers and I made about $40,000 in a little over a year without investing or buying anything. I would say that I have the drive and determination. I've been through a lot in life and lost people and lost touch of friends.. etc. and just can't force myself to get a ''real job'' I like freedom and just don't like dealing with people anymore.

Sadly tho internet marketing twists are coming to an end and I've milked it as long as I can and I haven't been making hardly anything the past few months. So instead of sitting around being depressed, I've been trying to sleep more and just relax or drive around to get my mind off of things and try to think up different ways to get my money coming back in.

Finally, the movie Runner Runner came out. And was a little bit about poker so I had to see it. And they mentioned poker affiliates and conventions. I started thinking dang why didn't I do that before.

I played online poker off and on for years until Black Friday. Yep, I'm in the States unfortunately. So I guess that's why I never really thought about getting into the affiliate side of poker. And I just got into Internet Marketing a little over a year ago. Never really knew you could make money online until then.

Everyone always says to do what you love as far as work goes. Well, I love being able to work from home and I love everything about poker. So here I am.

I'm curious if it's to late for me to even bother finding a program to signup with and become an affiliate for them? I'm not even sure which poker sites are still around that accepts US players. I think the last one I played on was Carbon Poker?

Would love it if there are any US affiliates in here that could possibly point me in the right direction? Also wouldn't mind subbing under you if you do the mentor/advice route.

I hope to be around here for a while and to meet new friends/contacts. Maybe play some hands together on the tables

You are missing something - US citizens can become affiliates at most programs, regardless of whether that particular gambling site serves the US market or not. That should change things for you. Also, follow the news in regards to poker being legalized in the states. While the whole thing is a big mess and has and probably will take ages, there is some progress being made.

To answer your original question - no, it's not too late to enter the gambling market as an affiliate. As long as people will gamble, which will likely be until aliens take over the world and kill us all, there will be some money to be made.

Having that said, you might want to consider some other niches apart from poker too - betting, binary options, casino are all viable options.

It can be done, but the majority of the money made by affiliates was through Google. Brands now rank where affiliates used to. On top of Google favoring poker rooms in the SERPS, some poker brands are even copying larger affiliates' link profiles and niche keywords. Making 6-7 figures your first year or two is far fetched now.

    Something smells fishy...

I would add that if you love the game and thinking about it, reading and talking about it you are half way done to make some money on affiliation, you just might be against a terrible machine with office slaves in Malta or Israel, but even then, the great thing about this vertical is that you can be in the tail and still make a buck...

To your original question: No! It's not late. Would not be the easy job, but your quote is the keyword:

Yes to your original quesitons it is not too late.

I have a friend looking to sell his poker affiliate site that is 6 years old and still makes 8-10k per month. ALthough slightly down form it's best months it is still possible.

It's never too late, there are still plenty of programs out there for US players.
