Thanks everyone for the comments as it does mean a lot to write a long post and see that someone read it and got some enjoyment of value from from them. As far as the compliments go, thanks but in all honesty there is nothing all that special about what I shared. There have been thousands who came out of much worst circumstances then I have, and there are thousands who know how to do anything I know how to do much better than I know how to do them.
Each of us has their own challenges they face. Let me share a story I heard a long time ago.
The spider monkey is one of, if not the, fastest moving creatures that is hunted for. With this animal being so difficult to hunt they became a delicacy in some countries. This is less so now, because after years hunters discovered an easy method to capture a spider monkey.
What they do is leave a peanut inside of a locked cage. The monkey comes up reaches his hand through to grab the peanut, grasps the peanut with a closed fist which makes his hand to big to get out of the cage. He struggles and struggles to figure out how to get his hand out of the cage, but he's not willing to drop the peanut. Meanwhile the hunter walks up casualty stairs down the monkey who is now fighting vigorously needing to run to save his life. Drop the peanut and he can escape, the monkey is not willing to let go of the peanut and the hunter delivers the fatal shot and the monkey is dead.
All this over a peanut. If he let go of the damn peanut he escaped and could go live a happy spider monkey life. However, he was not willing to let go.
Giving the monkey the benefit of the doubt, perhaps he doesn't know that if he lets go of the peanut he is no longer trapped.
As the most intelligent species on the planet though, you'd not find a human in the same situation. We'd drop the peanut and run, right?
Now I don't want to minimize anyone's challenges and obstacles, we all have unique sets of circumstances to overcome but seriously in the grand scheme of things our challenges, adversities, obstacles are all peanut sized when compared to the rewards that come from being able to go out and have what you want most. (making a mountain out of a mole hill saying works in here somewhere)
In most cases, its not the lack of knowledge, skill or the how to plan that stops most people from having success. Its that want for the meaningless stupid peanut inside of that cage that we refuse to let go of, that causes us most of our problems.
Think about it tonight when you reflect, what peanut sized beliefs or peanut sized challenges are holding you back from what you really want out of life?
We all know how to do the things we need to do in order to get the things we want. We might not know that we know how yet, but we all do know. The actual doing is the most difficult part. Some people develop the belief system that they're going to be successful no matter what challenges occur because someone who is already successful at the task at hand is there taking an interest and guiding them. However, its not the person that guided them at is responsible for their success its their own confidence and motivation to work towards their deepest desires with urgency and a I will not fail attitude that that is the sole fuel for their own personal accomplishments.
