My best affiliate advice for new poker affiliates
I’m really excited there is a forum and wanted to add some content thoughts to it right away that might benefit other members. The question I thought about for a bit is, what is the best advice I could give to new affiliates? After some thought this is what I came up with.
The simplest way I can put this advice is this: Stop looking for the next big thing!
It is so ridiculously easy to make money huge money in this industry that those who are making it don’t have enough hours in a day to earn more money that they already know how to make. If you look at many of the affiliates earning the most money these days most of them were mentored by, subbed for, or partnered with already established affiliates earning big bucks. Many of them then went off and hired staff or bought sites, or went solo creating a bunch of side projects and multiple streams of revenue.
Perhaps the best advice is to just grab onto and learn from someone else, but I don’t think this quite covers it.
I’ve partnered with a lot of people and will be honest most didn’t make very much, in fact many of them lost money. The reason is, I couldn’t do it all for them. Most who didn’t make much were either lazy or decided they had a better way to do things. The ones who were lazy rarely did their work, always invested the bare minimum and never were really into the projects. The others were always off on some new hot great idea, or spent too much time listening to people that were not actually making money.
I have a dozens examples of success stories I could give, many from my previous industry but can say every person who ever listened and just believed they were going to make money and was not lazy made lots of it.
I hope he don’t mind me sharing our story, but (edit out name - sorry) (on this forum and PAP) imo is a great recent example of a success story. I literally had to twist this kids arm to buy into one of my businesses, drop his, and come make a bunch of money. He had thought about it and said he couldn’t afford the proposal and before giving up on him, I pushed him just a little harder saying that I’m not going to keep this open and that he would be making a massive mistake by turning this down. I told him that I guarantee if he does this that in 6 months we’ll be making #, and that in a year we’ll be making this as long as he puts in the same work he does now and follows a couple things I suggested.
Now I don’t want to take any credit for this, because honestly it’s his faith and hard work that got him what he has today. Very few people actually have the faith to work their ass off listening to someone else’s ideas while not making a dime. (edit out name - sorry) did ½ the work for our project and came up with lots of ideas and learned tons of stuff and had already brought value to our business up front. Anyways the story goes that not only did we make what I said we made a heck of a lot more than that. In fact since then we’ve sold a few sites we’ve developed together where his 50% cut was well over his initial buy in cost. Heck our monthly income is well over his cost as well.
When I met him a couple years ago he was a college kid grinding it out at poker looking to start a side business. Since this time, he’s dropped out of school, paid off all his student loans, bought a house, and has developed into a very serious business owner and kick ass internet marketer.
Getting back to what I said in the previous paragraph. This is not really praise on myself. Honestly when this forum grows as it will rapidly next week there will be 50+ people here that could use a partner who would go out and do the same that are fully capable of helping anyone with any skill level who has faith, desire and commitment to make themselves fortunes. In the first months you might occasionally question if its worth it, in the years that follow its opposite where you think of how much work you’ve done and are shocked out how you could be getting paid this much for doing it.
Why would 50+ highly qualified poker affiliates be willing to take someone with little experience on? Because there is money in it for them too and there is more than enough money floating around for us all to be rich.
This goes a step further but I do need to add: If what people are teaching you to do to make money in this industry is hard. Then you’re listening to the wrong people.
I have a lot more to share on this topic but its more of a parallel topics then it is on topic so I’ll save these for future follow up posts.
