Default How do you balance your time?

I have always worked away from home until the last few months. Randy and I stay very busy with our children. They are involved in baseball, football, basketball, softball, track, and we even have a cheerleader. So, to say that we have a busy life is an understatement.

I have found that since I am working at home there doesn't seem to be a beginning or end to the workday. Every free moment I have I am working. Does anyone set certain hours to work, or is this just the norm for working at home? I have found that it is very hard to take a break when I know that there is so much stuff that needs to be done. I feel that I may be more neglectful to my children now that I am working at home than I was when I worked outside of the home. How does everyone else deal with this?

They best thing you can do is be more efficient. Write a list of things you need to accomplish each week or day and get it done. Do not get distracted by browsing the internet, stay focused.

Make sure you do not get burnt out on work. You need to find a stopping point and find time for yourself and family. Set hours if you need to an maybe not work nights.

If you become overwhelmed, then cut back on what you are doing or outsource the work.

My "system" is very similar to what Tom described above.

Have you read Getting Things Done by David Allen?
I know it is kind of cliche but it honestly helped me a lot, especially with figuring out what to figure out how to cope when I have more to do than I have the time to.

I'll be happy to rant some more about GTD if anybody wants..

Listing your tasks for the day really an effective way in monitoring your work.

Honestly, working at Home is much easier, no boss, free time, lot of breaks. The only thing you need to be is discipline. You must accomplish your tasks for the day.
