Default Think i have taken on too much

    Hi all,

I think that i have lost focus on a number of sites that i own by buying domains for mini sites and then creating those before a main site is making my income?

I was thinking about selling off unused domains but i feel that they have high value both monitory and to me.

    Any advice?

Im in the same boat lol

I have a good domain for a main site, but alot of my time is being taken up updating a mini site, and iv started getting a few signups on it so don't want to back off to make time for the main site lol..

I'm definately going to keep hold of the domain though, if you think its a good domain hold on to it and find time to develop it, it would be worth much more and also you could be onto a winner and make alot from it

And another thing - buying multiple domains is something I said I would never do, damn you just can't resist it though I got another domain the other day even though I don't have time lol, be okay for a rainy day lol

We all have domain addictions and tend to open more projects than we should, I'm guessing the most successful affiliates are the ones who've learned to stay focused on the task at hand.

staying focused is one of the toughest tasks in this business simply becuase of the speed at which things change. try to make a to do list first and check off those tasks before taking on anything else.

One of the side benefits of building a more highly trafficked "main" site is that you can also use it to direct traffic to the appropriate mini-sites when you thing it's a good time to do so. Having a good busy site really does help to get new mini-sites some imputus.

So - if you are putting the cart before the horse - it really does depend on whether you are seeing ANY return on these mini-sites or whether you are simply creating "timbleweed" mini-sites that are not getting any serious traffic.

If no-one is reading and/or purchasing from your mini-sites - then YES YOU ARE WASTING YOUR TIME AS A MONEY MAKING AFFILIATE.

(You might be enjoying doing them - and developing new web-skills - but that's another discussion).

Overall - if you can honestly see a time in the future when you will have the time to devote to these domains to make them effective earners - or if you believe that these are great domain names then I'd simply keep them and park them. At $10 per domain per year you can surely afford to stash a few away.

(However, a word to the wise, 90% of the "great domain names" that I see posted on most affiliate boards probably are not worth any more than the $10 annual fee as undeveloped names ... so if you have more than a handful it might be time to start honestly evaluating them - not every idea is a good one.)

I'm adding 1 page for each domain I own and make that page capable of converting visitors.

It did take me almost a whole day to set up the first site, but now I just copy that page, write some new text, change the offers around and I have a pretty decent looking site.

I think there are a lot of benefits to doing this.

    1) You can't really procrastinate myself out of developing the sites, since you just have to write 3-400 words for the front page.

    2) You get "aged websites". The value of an old website may be debatable when there are only 1 page one it, but it does add a bunch of perceived value if you should decide to sell the site.

    3) The damn things stand a good chance of paying for themselves.

    4) It is a lot harder to go on a domain buying spree if you know that you will have to work an extra hour for each one you buy.
