Default To submit or not to submit...

    Hi,

I wrote an article which I started writing with the intention to do an article submission at ezine with. Now I finished it, I actually like it so much that I would hate to let it go. On top of that, my site contains only about 20 pages and is craving for more (which already feels like quite an achievement, but I know is next to nothing). What should I do? (Its a checklist, 12 points, almost 900 words and I could put almost one flowing link in every point to another article on my site if I were to keep it for myself)

I also thought of rewriting it to do both. Then, how different should it be? Would they accept it if I keep the full version and only submit the 12 one line points with the box telling readers to look at my site for the complete version (that'd be 95 words, lol).

Also, I assume you don't have to put your full name and ugly picture at the bottom of the article when submitting to ezine? That alone might be a reason to keep it for myself and just put it on my site .

Put a blog on your site and post to it every day. Make sure it pings the search engines.

If you REALLY want to get your content distributed for free, publish a full RSS feed so that spammers can pick it up. Then embed a link back to your site in the body copy of each post, so the spam sites all link back to your site.

Some people claim this helps them. It's not supposed to hurt you.

However, publishing a partial feed keeps the lazy spammers from stealing all your copy. There are many RSS-feed driven sites that may pick up your partial feed and link back to your site as a courtesy.

Some people claims this helps. It's not supposed to hurt you.

Basically, writing a blog where you share your passion should help you attract real links from people who write their own blogs and share THEIR passions, because as they find your blog they'll link to it.

Birds of a feather tend to flock together, and so forth.

I would say keep the article to yourself and flow the links to the relevant pages and then follow Michael's advice on getting a nice blog together.

Hmm, interesting idea. There are a couple of thoughts/questions/doubts floating around now, however.

I'll start with probably the most stupid one of them: when does a website become a blog? Is a blog just a website you post very regularly on? What exactly is the difference? Type of content? Update frequency? Way it is organized (navigation)? I thought I knew the difference, but the more I think about it, I realize I actually don't.

How big of a commitment would a blog be? A quality article every day? In the beginning, that would be fine, but I'm not really some sort of poker enigma that can go on spewing quality stuff for months, years, decades . And I think I'm not really the kind of person to talk about how I woke up in the morning, smashed my keyboard to pieces (again) because of a bad beat (just kidding), etc. when out of quality ammo.

A blog is a software application you install on your Web site (or which you register to use on someone else's Web site). Many people put nothing more than a blog on their sites. Many people put all sorts of things in addition to blogs on their sites.

The blog doesn't have to be a huge commitment. But the more you post to it, the better it should perform for you.

And even a poker blog doesn't always have to write about poker. It's YOUR blog. Write about whatever makes you feel passionate. Write about anything you give a damn about.
