    Default Totally Lost

I am 19 and just recently got into all of this. I own one poker site.

It is Online Poker Locator-The Best Poker Site Reviews-Rakeback-US-PokerStars-UltimateBet-Full Tilt-Cake-Absolute

I wrote reviews, have rakeback offered (yes, it is legitimate) and even wrote a handful of articles, but still get no traffic.

I have no idea what to do. I have no web design experience so this site was done from scratch on Dreamweaver just messing around best I could.

I have more motivation than you know, I want to make a bunch of sites and work 8 hours a day on them, but if this one isn't doing anything at all why waste my time?

    Any help?

    My aim is jdwanchalk

All the links on your front page are to files on your own computer, not on your website. This means that the only thing other people can see is your front page.

It is fairly easy to fix, just search for "html tutorial" on Google and follow one of the free guides you find. It will probably take you a day or two to learn the basics, but it will make things much easier.

Someone will probably chip in with a detailed explanation of how to fix your links, but unless you learn basic HTML, you will end up in a similar situation again.

If you are using dreamweaver you can do a find and replace for this. I tried to make it as easy as possible for you and make sure that your site only has files on it that are for that site otherwise your likely to change a bunch of stuff you dont need to. (I know ths wouldnt effect most people but ya never know)

    1 - Click Code
    2 - Highlight this piece ONLY file:///C|/Users/jwanchalk/Documents
3 - Right click and scroll to "Find and Replace"
4 - The piece you highlighted should be inserted into the box that says find below it in replace paste in "http://www.onlinepokerlocator.com"
5 - Click the drop down menu above and change it from Current Document to Entire Current Local Site
6 - Click the button that says Replace All

If what Im telling you screws it up more...zip your site and send it to me and Ill fix it for ya..its like a 2 min fix ckaus (@) live.co.uk

    Just to comment on this

I started in 2006. I knew absolutely nothing about websites, coding, or even what html was. I started with a free forum from proboards. I build static sites using dreamweaver. I dont code from scracth but I can modify what I need. Im not saying Im an expert but I sure as hell didnt go to school to do this and I continue to learn new things daily. I know enough now that I rarely need to ask for help unless it has something to do with php and whatnot. If you hang around and ask questions when you need help and continue to work at it you can pick it up. There are alot of affiliates like myself here who knew absolutely nothing before coming into this and many of us are self taught with the help of the members here or those who were kind enough to be a mentor

Just have patience. I know people are gonna jump in on this thread and tell you to use wordpress but if you really want to do yourself a favour you'll keep working at the html and learn it before you jump into wordpress.

If you cant design dont worry about how pretty your website looks. Some of the top sites that receive sick amounts of traffic arent fancy by any means but they do well on all counts.

What I would do is learn
    • the best way to set up a website, and this includes url structure
    • title tags
    • htags,
    • how to use an htacess and what that file is for.
    • What a robots.txt file is for
    • How to use a css sheet

and here's some reading material for you that I think would be useful for ya... anyway that should give you some ideas on what to search for before you run into problems later. Good luck

Edit: Do what Kaus wrote - It is very good advice.

    About your site
I would remove the part about being a professional poker player - When you write about rebuilding your roll playing NL10$ it detracts from your credibility. For all I know you may be a poker genius, but when people read something like that and then see a graph from NL10$ they think everything on the site is BS.

I would remove all blinking text - It is difficult to read.
