Help Picking A Domain Name

I have been looking into purchasing several domains recently, but all of the .com and .net versions have been taken. I have done a little research on the topic and found conflicting information. The only thing people seem to agree on is that in general and .com is the preference then .net. So given the following options, what would be your preference in naming your domain?

Lets say I wanted to name my site after a famous poker player named Joe Poker, which name would be best and why? Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

I'd go with JoePoker.org.

Why? Because that's an exact match domain and will typically do better than non-exact match domains in Google.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with .org domains. If you can't get the .com or the .net, then .org is the way to go from my experience. Other domain extensions really don't matter, unless you are targeting specific countries other than the USA, then I'd go for country specific domains, like .co.uk and such.

Plus, there is something about .org's that portray a sense of trust to most people.

I like JoePoker.org as well but I think JoePokerfansite.com or JoePokerFans.com or something can do well with something like a poker pro site. If it's a poker pro, then a fan site would spark the interest of fans of that pro and you can probably form a nice community with that type of theme.

JoePoker.org FTW - It should benefit from being exact match and it looks official. One idea would be to develop the joepokeronline.com or joe-poker.com and sell it, while developing the joepoker.org for your own network.

And spammy hidden links tend to work better in non-affiliate forums.
